In WWII dat was in the Air Training Corps, living in Rutland they were surrounded by USAF bases. He used to go on to the bases and chat with pilots and mechanics. Every P51 came with a Packard Merlin tool kit and he collected a number of tools, including what we now know as a MoleGrip. I still have, and use them, they are all dated 1942. A good connection with Dad, who would now be 105...
Nice memories!

I use a software product for my Windows PC. It cost me (one time buy, years ago but free annual updates) 35$ (USD) (about 25 GBP).

It tracks all repairs, preventive maintenance checks and services due (by both calendar date and mileage), logs all trips (to calculate MPG and current odometer), tracks materiel (keeps track of sources as well) and / or labor expenditures, and allows me to attach files to each entry, e.g. photos or lists of viable filters, how to do certain tasks, etc.

Yes, I do have to put the data in.

I have 5 Morgans, each with a different engine, fuel management system, etc., and each has its own maintenance requirements.

I looked, my earliest entry is 1994. Honestly, I wouldn't know what to do (or when) without it.

I record everything I do in the owners handbook, its got 12 annual service pages. Owing to the low mileage covered i tend to use one page to cover 2 years maintenance, a short note of what was done, i.e engine oil and filter, date mileage, make/type of oil used. I tend to run coolant for 3 years and brake fluid change every 2 years (although I think the service conditions would safely allow longer). Gearbox and diff oil, when i feel inclined but I think Mazda quote something like 60K for gearbox, maybe longer and with decent Redline fully synthetics i think thats fine, you could probably run it for life although I'm not an advocate of"filled for life". I did a gearbox oil change on my wifes 2008 VW EOS we've had from new last year (12 years and 108K) and oil that i took out still had a nice colour and viscosity "looked good".
I think that using the owners handbook to record everything keeps it simple for future owners, I don't bother to record king pin greasing....its too often. I do keep reciepts but running several cars i tend to place one big order for consummibles.

Cheers Mark

Downloaded a copy from here Kaizen Software

I've just finished entering the details of the parts I've bought for my Plus 4 (brake reaction bars, panhard rod, paint protection film, badge bar, etc) and ran a report .... gulp ..... just over £1.4k

Better not let SWMBO swmbo have access to this software

Its a comprehensive piece of software - and easy to use
