Hi
I'm trying to find a tuner with a rolling road in NE England who has the gear to get into a 14cux hotwire brain. There are plenty of remap guys with rolling roads but only access OBD2 brains.

Any advice or recommendations will be most welcome
Cheers
Alan

I used to recommend I & J Macdonald in Lanchester , but they closed and the business was taken over by Beamish Morgans. Within the last year/s or so their chief mechanic (ex Macdonald) has set up on his own.

I don't have his details but I am sure that there are others here who do , his name is Peter Davison. Not sure if he has a rolling road any more.

Outside of that, and I know it is a bit outside your NE area, the only outfit I would recommend is Mark Adams near Shrewsbury (who designed the Tornado chip) for the 14CUX. https://www.tornadosystems.com. He is the absolute authority on these engines and will get the very best he can from yours.

You could do a lot worse than just purchase a Tornado fuel chip for the 14CUX ecu and fit it yourself.

From experience the chip works best when you have a free flowing exhaust manifold, (Librands or similar) and a less restricted air filter than the standard black cannister.

Hi, John Mcdonald left his rolling Road behind when he moved to Beamish Morgan, I don't think Peter will have got around to installing one yet as with any new business he'll probably have other priorities - I might give him a call to see if he can point me in the right direction though.

My car has all the bits on and last time it was on the RR it was a tad under 250bhp, but it just scraped through th e MOT today. So I need to find out if its the cats or lambda sensors on the way out - or something else, then once it's sorted & I know where state of tune is, I want to change the injectors for BOSCH 4 port ones

Thanks for taking the time to reply

I changed mine for bosch 4 years ago, it is a cleaner burn (I think) when it was on the rolling road it made 281 bhp and over 300ib/ft, there was a bit of head work and 4.8 cc.

something I found out was that this engine really needs negative pressure in the crankcase, a small vacuum leak can cause the eco to enrich the mixture and make the CO reading high.

I was also thinking about changing to the Bosch 4 port injectors. I got a set of reconditioned units sitting ready , but I think I will delay fitting them until I have the car up with Mark Adams , as I expect it will need some adjustments to the fuel mapping.

Try BTG performance, based on the Tyne tunnel industrial estate. They might be able to help you out.
