Got tired of replacing the hydraulic switch on my 81 plus 8 so I built a bracket and installed a mechanical switch [
I remember the hydraulic brake switch plague from 20 years ago. I put as many alternatives as I could find up on gomog.https://www.gomog.com/allmorgan/brakelightswitch.html#REPLACEMENTS
It even forced the MMC to come up with a more complicated foot pedal actuator. As always, yours looks better than theirs.(below)
I preferred to keep it simple. After all, there is nothing wrong with a hydraulic brake light switches. It was merely the market we were all buying from. If one searches enough, you find that autoparts are like refrigerators. Behind all the names here is usually only 1-2 actual factories making them. So I went to a different manufacturing market and came up with a something painlessly interchangeable. Thee was a minor thread issue, but hydraulic switches will adapt to threads if close enough. I used a Welles RB 401. I sent you one. You were uneasy because of the thread. In my case, I merely screwed it into a spare Morgan junction I had (just in case)..using a fine oil on the threads both sides. I removed it and replaced the Morgan original. Worked a treat. I put the Morgan one back in again and it worked as well! No leaks from either. That convinced me. I have used the Wells 401 since (80,000 kms.). And used it on my UK Plus 8 as well. another 55000 miles. No leaks and no problems. Who would have thought! An easy swap-in solution.
It is weird how sorted problems disappear from memory.
