TBM, my education is not sadly lacking, but I see that you are quick to denigrate others that don't share your what some may consider a narrow view. There have been a few snide remarks like 'audience' which I did not respond to at first but others felt the same and did respond. I get the sense you feel somehow to have the moral high ground on this issue, almost a sense that some of us are prejudiced, possibly xenophobic when we point out what many others also see as the obvious. I cant help being white and I will not be made to apologise for being so, but all of my life I have tried to interact with the others and not be influenced by their creed, colour, sex or sexual orientation.



I'm not interested in the conventions that narrow what is considered 'history' and I seriously question what approved version of history is currently being taught in schools or more importantly than the subject matter but the way it is being taught and what emphasis or balance exists.

You can read what you like into my posts - entirely up to you. It matters not a jot - at the end of the day we're just a few old blokes gassing on a car forum.

However, I'm a great believer of the old adage - if it looks like a duck, swims like and duck and quacks like a duck, then it's probably a duck.

However, I do apologise to you on behalf of the teaching profession. You have been seriously let down.

I cant be bothered with your continuing snide comments.......I certainly do not want to continue the debate with you. No need to apologise for the teaching profession, fortunately, I had the advantage of being taught by teachers who had wisdom, real life experiences as well as knowledge to impart. For example my junior school teacher was a Battle of Britain ace Spitfire pilot who had a greater understanding of warfare and its impact on society than could ever be gleaned from a history book.

Smashing, we can draw a line under it then.

While we’re on the subject can I ask you all for a bit of advice about a subject that has been troubling me. Let me describe my position .
I wouldn’t want to live next door to a badly behaved gypsy family who were engaged in criminal activities. I wouldn’t want to live next door to drug dealers playing loud reggae music all through the night and with strange smelling smoke drifting across the garden fence. I wouldn’t want to live next door to a young offenders rehabilitation home, neither would I want to live next door to barking dogs, or people whose culture is to have large families shouting at each other all the time, and parking too many cars all over the place. I wouldn’t want to live next door to people who keep their front garden scruffy so that visitors think I live in a dump. I don’t know if I’m Angle, Saxon, or Jute, or Roman, Norman, Viking or Celt, Huguenot or Orangeman. But I just want to live next door to people like me . My problem is to know, how I should define myself (fascist, racist, chauvinist, immigrant, coloniser, subjugated indigenous victim, white supremacist, Nazi, ageist, snob, scab, bourgeoisie, little Englander, ?), so that I know who I am offending and what I should be apologising for?
