Has anyone fitted a Librands Acoustic Trim ( http://www.librands.co.uk/products-view-117.html)to their Morgan? I would like to know if it makes the exhaust noise any quieter or if there is any decrease in power from a standard system. Cheers Dek

Would you want to make a standard exhaust quieter? I have the Librands Sports exhaust system fitted to my 4/4 Sport. I've been running their Sports Silencer for a couple of months and have just fitted the 4 branch manifold and sports cat to the car today. It was quite boomy at certain revs with just the sports silencer and if the manifold increases the noise I'll probably try their Acoustic Trim. Rob Wells at Librands told me it makes no difference to the power output but thats with their full system.

Not sure about the Librands acoustic hoo haa but well done getting the manifold wrestling finished, as a fellow Sport owner will be interested on the results.

Just a couple of nuts to tighten up today and then I'll fire her up. Oh...and grease the front suspension as she's up on stands at the moment.
I've taken some photos so I'll post a step by step guide!

Jay, yesterday I had a Librands sports manifold fitted to my +4. It makes quite a difference but with the sports exhaust I didn't notice a noise increase.
I don't have yet the sports Cat. John

I've decided to give the Librands Acoustic Trim a go......just ordered it and I'll report back later next week!
This is what Rob Wells at Librand said to me about it.
"Hi John, I’m glad you got it sorted. The Acoustic trim does not affect the performance, the smaller id just speeds up the gasses for the last 150mm, making some go into the sound absortion material. We went well in Portimao, netting a 1st, 2nd and 4th in class with the Elva, TVR Grantura and Lotus Cortina. A fantastic track, much like a roller coaster! Kind regards Rob "
Also sounds like he had fun in Portugal with some interesting cars!!

Hi Jay Please let me know how you find the acoustic trim. I have also talked to Rob and he is unable to give me any sound level or performance data pre and post fitting.

Dek, I've fitted the acoustic trim.....nicely made and comes with clamp and rear exhaust hanger bracket and rubber. I needed to trim the rear exhaust pipe by a few inches which Rob warned me about...you may not need to depending on your system. It certainly works; the sports system was quite noisy before, a nice deep burble at low revs but it "blared" on an open throttle which was a bit tiring...I wanted it to snarl or roar! ( hmmm....just too much to expect from a Sigma! )The low revs burble is still there, very slightly muted but the blare has changed to a slightly quieter deeper sound which is not so obtrusive. There seems to be no perceptible reduction in performance so all in all both the Sports system and Acoustic trim have been a success.
On reflection...gaining around 10bhp hasn't been particularly cheap ( damn that expensive cat!) but then as they say...you don't get owt for nowt!
