This has been the longest period I have not had a motorcycle just sitting in my garage. Always had a Harley there for over 25 years, if only for reassurance and a sense of well being, even if it didn't turn a wheel. Harleys brought a smile to my face, a sense of inner contentment and security, just there to remind me of former times. John I suspect I can fully tune in to the senses you describe. I held on to my R850R for some time after I acquired my Morgan circa 20 years ago, which at the time took over the former fun duties of the bike which then began to gather dust, thus it became difficult for me to justify hanging on to it. Today it seems I may be in a very similar position again, this time with the Morgan gathering dust, the longer this goes on I suspect I may indeed get round to seriously advertising it for sale.... or not...hmm..?

I know the feeling of a Morgan gathering dust, since my Roadster decided to become incontinent (following a 500 mile trip to see friends) and drip water from around the radiator area with increasingly greater force, its been stuck in the garage since beginning of August waiting for a slot at Life's to get it investigated and resolved. I suspect a new rad will be required. Unfortunately for me, Life's backlog of work seems to swing between famine and feast, currently not helped by a backlog in obtaining spares has filled the garage with cars awaiting finishing. I could take it elsewhere but I've seen the standards of servicing and maintenance work at some official dealers and generally I'm not too impressed. I know Lifes will do a good job.
I must admit I'm slightly pissed off with the standard of Morgan engineering and parts suppliers. the car may be 2008 but it was rarely used and has only covered 6800 miles, just under 2000 local careful re-running in miles this year under my ownership and the first long journey I completed it decides to leak water when it gets back home. Besides giving me a temporary low oil pressure reading 'heartburn and anxiety' on the way back home following the Morgan spending a night out in the cold and wet at our friends.......I increasingly suspect it likes being snug and warm in the garage too much, where it has spent most of its life closeted in warm storage.
So Morgan is gathering dust for a few weeks more, the wife knows me better than I do and makes reassuring 'once its fixed we can enjoy using it again' type noises....my inner soul is telling me I did the right thing to join the AA recovery when I got the Morgan and this wont be the last incident to try and spoil the ownership experience.

John, sorry to read as to why your Morgan lies unused since August.. Pity you did not live near Arwyn of Colin who would have you sorted out in jig time or know someone who could be sure to help you out.. sigh..!
I remember back in the 90`s when researching as to the realities of Morgan ownership, even back then when the electronics seem`d to consist of resistors and transistors there were issues so related, by the time things went digital the foibles seemed to increase somewhat for the home mechanic, to the extent it seemed even some issues seem`d beyond the capability of dealerships to resolve... I was happy when Lorne found me a pre-EFI Morgan, perhaps one of the very last last with carbs, though with electronic ignition, however being old school, I would have been happy enough with points.
I expected to be forever resolving issues on my Morgan, though truth be told the old thing has been super reliable, I only once had to change a fan belt after some sporting driving in France while surprising an 80`s Porsche 930 Turbo...(-: Toured France, Italy and Spain with no more than a petrol elbow cracking due to age, the Mog was circa 15 yrs old at the time, a Couple of mins in a car park and we were on our way. Fortunately I carry tools and spares as Kevin (the restorer) rebuilt it primarily for touring.
I am far more comfortable with pre electronic and old school simple mechanical cars, that and a bit of self reliance... The more modern a Morgan is, it seems the more wiring, and devices requiring to send and recieve signals and act on them the more potential for issues to arise and cause confusion, even for " experts," Jeez there were foibles enough for some when things were so much simpler..? Though some folk brought that upon themselves ever in search of modifying this that or the other and chasing imbalances they themselves created..!
Hope you get your Morgan sorted out soon John.

They are lucky the zoo is based in Dudley, had it been based a few miles away in places like Tipton my home town, there would be lion burger BBQ's on bonfire night.

How I learned to mind my own business. I was walking by the State Mental Health Center, when I heard chanting, "13, 13, 13, 13" from all the patients. There was a slatted fence that made it hard to see through. If got close and looked at an angle, I could see them shouting, 13,13,13,13. All of a sudden I got poked in the eye with a small stick. Then I heard, "14, 14, 14, 14"
