If you find yourself with nothing to do on the 13th -14th November then pop along and see some Morgans competing in the 2021 Race of Remembrance.

After a Covid pause MMC has entered 2 new CX plus 4's in preparation for next season Morgan Challenge.

The automatic car has been adapted for use by disabled veterans and will be driven solely by beneficiaries of Mission Motor Sport. The second car is being driven by 4 drivers including Tony Hirst and a journalist.

Crunchie Gears of this parish has entered his +4 Clubsport and is attempting to win the race. I've entered alongside the factory and will be sharing my Clubsport with 3 veterans and our aim is simply to finish.

It worth noting that the majority of the veterans racing the Morgans have only recently completed their ARDS examination and this will be the first time on track in a race.

If you're not familiar with the Race of Remembrance, it starts on Friday with a night time qualifying season followed by daytime qualifying on Saturday. in 2018 (That seems a long time ago) we all had to night qualify under the safety car as the track was flooded.

It's then into a 12 hour race that starts on Saturday at 3pm racing into the evening and finishing around 9pm. We start again on Sunday around 9am and then stop for a service of Remembrance at 10.45 with all of the cars forming up on the grid, and then restart and run through until around 3.30.

Cars are entered in classes based on power to weight and can enter either the Relay Class or the Hero’s Class. All of the Morgans this year are entered into the Heros class so that's one car with regular driver changes

We've been told the event will be being streamed live and besides a feature in Mogmag it will be reported in the motoring press with a journalist from Autocar racing in one of the factory cars.

You'll find some details here Race of Remembrance

In the next couple of days I'll upload some pictures and videos from our last few times at RoR. Needless to say, Anglesey in November does have some changeable weather.

Please come a long or support us virtually from the comfort of your home.

Mission Motorsport are working wonders with those who are leaving or have left the services. MMC are behind the scenes supporting Mission and it woul be great in the wider Morgan community could also join in.

Cheers

John

It’s a great cause John and I hope a big success.
I think Shane (who does the MMC Bicester Heritage stuff) may be one of the drivers (top instructor imo) - he told me a bit about the RoR whilst he was teaching me how to drive a Morgan round the Bicester track….I think the MMC support is great.
