THE LOVING HUSBAND A man had two of the best tickets for the Rugby World Cup Final. As he sits down, another man comes along and asks if anyone is sitting in the seat next to him. "No .... ," he says, "the seat is empty.""This is incredible ..... !" said the man, "who in their right mind would have a seat like this for the Rugby Cup Final, the biggest sporting event of the Rugby World and not use it .... ?"He says, "Well actually, the seat belongs to me. My wife was supposed to come with me, but she passed away. This is the first Cup Final we haven't been to, together, since we got married .... ..""Oh . . .. I'm sorry to hear that. That's terrible. I guess you couldn't find someone else, a friend, or relative, or even a neighbour, to take the seat .... ?"The man shakes his head . . ., "No .... . They're all at the funeral."
A little bit of droll from a mate in New Zealand

Me too for UCL 3rds and then though I never worked for them the odd game with BBC 4ths as a mate played in the first team. The boss is French & I am President of our French company so as an Englishman with a Welsh father I enjoyed the final but it should have been Wales!!! I did see Max Boyce on tour in the late 90s & I have never laughed so much in my life. Just a shame we couldn't say "and Wales defeated France in a fast an open game". I was though in Malaysia when England won & watched it on TV with Aussie commentary . Magic akin to when I flew in Concorde.

Yes I was delighted the home Nation won they just play such a beautiful controlling game, other than the France game which was pretty typically a scrappy old game. Let's face it they would have been even more unbearable had they won. Man of the tournament was well deserved having said that.
Martin Johnson's second home is a neighbour to us and it seems he has a lot to think about now. Let's just hope they don't throw the baby out with the bath water as is so often the case.
I expect he will appear at the Chiefs sometime or another.

Used to play for our village 2nd team we where off to Carlise the bus broke down in Newcastle and we all went to the pub while we waited for another private bus to arrive . We where late on the field it was which ball do we go for we could all see several , some more than others and we lost wonder why . My mate said its his birthday on the bus and they grabbed him stripped him naked and held him to the bus window while it went through the Newcastle high street on a trip to Gosforth ( the high street is closed off now ) all the women cheering as they looked his face was red .

I only played at Secondary School level but loved it brocken fingers noses and all. Could never see the point in football and still can't. Glad you enjoyed your adult rugby I can imagine the atmosphere on that coach - yes both sorts

football players are like Andrex soft and fluffy Another from my ex college mate in NZ Three Rugby Coaches - Robbie Deans, Martin Johnson and Graham Henry - are invited to heaven watch the World Cup final with God. God decides who will sit next to him by asking them the same question. God asks Deans first: "What do you believe?" Deans says, "I believe in hard work and staying true to family, teammates and friends." God is impressed by Deans and offers him a seat to his left. God then turns to Johnson and asks, "What do you believe?" Johnson says, "I believe loyalty, discipline, courage and honour are the fundamentals of life." God is again impressed and offers the Englishman a seat to his right. Finally, God turns to Henry: "What do you believe?" Henry then says, "I believe you're in my seat."

When it comes to football personally I prefer Aussie Rules, the Australian variant of Irish football. Check out What is Australian Rules Football?
