Yes I do realise it should be MINI and German just to save the moaners the effort of complaining laugh2 it's C&P verbatim from the guide..

Thanks Richard, went in the factory a few years ago, very highly automated, but interesting, unfortunately mobiles, cameras, even smart watches had to be left outside so nothing in the photo album

A pity they didn't let you take your own memory shots Jon, a great visit I bet.
Some friends of ours arranged a visit for the Halberg Rassy members up there a couple of years ago, he is an ex RN Naval Architect and loved it and his wife has had a few of the MINI cabrios, great little cars and both love their cars and boats..

I must admit that having watched a MINI factory documantary a few years ago, the production is truly amazing.

And I'm tempted. However, although the interiors are well executed, I find the overall shape, and especially some of the wide mouth fronts to be a bit hard to like.

We have been close to the MINI when replacement time comes around for Heather but we both prefer the way VAG does things and looks so this is her third GTI grin2

Looking forward to watching the eMINI process though having sat in one at the Goodwood Festival of Speed a couple of years back.

Out of interest is the industry still hampered by chip shortages as it seems to have vanished media wise.

Waiting period for delivery is still around 10 to 14 weeks apparently, but I was told that they are prioritising electrics. My order went in on 15th September and one of the sales guys said I might see it by end of November/early December.

Thanks, that seems a pretty good time frame and good to hear they are prioritising the newer model..

John, agreed.
I'm slightly saddened by the realisation that I, and most of us, will not be here to see how this plays out.

Yes the legacy we are leaving our future generations is too awful to contemplate what the reality may well mean. Whilst we 'chew on and criticise' the changes to our lifestyle and the inconvenience it may cause us, trying to keep within 2C rise by end of the century when its already predicted to rise 3 to 5C by then, kind of pales into trivia and insignificance in the grand scheme of things. In fairness we inherited a problem, but we sure haven't done anywhere near enough to solve it. One thing is for sure even within our remaining lifetime afforded to us we are going to experience significant and material adverse change.

Yes indeed. Deaths due to heat stroke in the over 60's have doubled in the last 20 years, and as each successive year becomes the hottest so far, the rate of doubling will increase very markedly. Once we get past regular 35C days then older folks are seriously at risk, once we get into the 40s it gets really bad.

Thinking of electric cars.
Well there are steam nuts
& petrol heads
Are there going to be electric nut heads.

I wonder? As I find steam & the ICE fascinating & consider myself a petrol head. Somehow just can’t see me getting into electric motors.

Steam is really the ultimate fascination for me. It has the ultimate fettle potential.
