Has anyone had a Cambelt change on the 1.6 Sigma engine recently and have a cost. Also was the Water Pump changed at the same time?

Allon-White changed the cam belt on my Sigma engined 4/4 last week. Just checked the invoice and the labour was 3.5 hours. No idea re water pump as the bill just shows a cam belt kit.

My 2014 4/4 needed a new head gasket. My son did the work. Of course, the head was ground flat at an engine shop. There was also a timing belt replacement done at the same time. The water pump we have renewed. You have to buy special tools from Ford if you do it yourself I believe to lock the camshafts correctly.

I did mine myself, it is quite a big job as you need to remove so much other stuff to do it, but it's not difficult, It's best to change the waterpump at the same time as a precaution otherwise you'll have to repeat the whole proceedure if the pump failed later.

Just had a look at last years bill. Cam belt & water pump change. (Comes as a kit) PLUS service. Labour came to £825. Parts for the cam belt etc change came to £187 ex Vat. Sorry Labour was not itemised, but should give you an idea. (Total bill for everything inc spark plugs & Vat + service was £ 1350)

My mechanic used a special tool borrowed from a fellow Morganeer. Parts came as a kit costing around A$200.00( I think) - labour including a brake bleed was A$ 460.00 Cheap insurance .......

Thanks to all for your replies. I wont be doing the cambelt myself and will be having the water pump replaced at the same time too.
There appears to be a wide variety of costs depending on who fits the Cambelt and some special tools are required including grinding a semi circle out of the engine mounting so that the timing can be locked with a pin.
On the plus side it only needs doing every 8 years and perhaps its a small price to pay for peace of mind.
