Is there a trade system whereby I would be allowed to kick them in the head and swap Section 22/criminal damage for common assault ?
It would seem a fair trade to me. oops

(Just for reference given the interweb is a complex place that was a joke)

Given the enjoyment I get driving the good ladies CooperS R56 and how the shopping looks after I get home I cannot wait to see the state of the goods in the Urban-nought after a good thrashing on the way home!

Alistair .... any viewing of the recent unrest in the US lets us know that they travel with a posse of cell-phone toting 'Citizen Journalists' who can post selectively edited highlights on the web to 'prove' you were the fascist aggressor! .... 😁

Well tried propaganda training ...... the above, shouting "you're hurting/killing/suffocating me" loudly when restrained in any way for the benefit of the cameras, psychologically upsetting tactics (blowing horns in people's faces, constant shouting of hateful remarks close up etc etc ) to drive a response that can be framed as an 'attack on peaceful protesters' amongst others .... you can spot the script) ..... techniques to 'control the optic' shared internationally between groups.

You're right in one thing .... if they're not confronted/restrained in the act, then once they've walked away the possibility of redress is vanishingly small ... with all respect to the Police they'll almost certainly do nothing .... as the release and sympathy shown by the courts to XR protestors shows, why waste time on something with no realistic chance of conviction and very bad PR.

Indeed.

'appen that I grew up in his destination village - Aberfoyle. It's a cracking road, if you ever have the chance. Better still if you know whether the road goes right or left around the next bend ;-)

& fwiw, I read in a reliable source that the carbon footprint of 15 supertankers is equivalent to all the cars in the world.
Yes, *all the cars*
So maybe start putting hydrogen engines into supertankers?

I think that the Yorkshire way is the way forward.

Always taking care to minimise spending, well, when possible. grin2

Commuting by train, especially when its cheaper.
Not wanting a two ton SUV when a small saloon will do.
Not wanting to fly half way around the world to sit by a pool.
Walking to the local shops.
And so on.

But in all seriousness, unless they fix these huge container ships and tankers, and unless they fix commercial aviation, a few hundred thousand EV's is a drop in the ocean.

Well what about the very large car RoRo vessels importing cars from China?
Pollution from freight vessels is massive.
They all need to be wind/solar powered, might take a bit longer.
Or nuclear.

There are, at last count, 9 such transporters bringing Tesla cars to the UK and Europe between now and the middle of December, each with about 4000 cars....

Every time I buy produce at the supermarket and it shows Netherlands/Kenya/Spain I wonder how this is fiscally and ecologically viable. But I eat them. Everyone has to work out their own rational position. If we teach the youth to do better than us we did well? I still want to whack someone who does something like that without actually knowing the situation or bothering to find out. It's not bringing success to the issue. I also do not have to lift my leg as high if they are bending down to mess with my car. thumbs

Talking of whacking someone. My company is based on a typical modern industrial estate and just lately we have a guy coming round with a drone who is deliberately flying low over the estate and buzzing people with the drone. He does it until someone gets annoyed enough to confront him at which point he starts filming the people getting annoyed and really tries to wind them up. Apparently he posts videos of people getting annoyed and sometimes whacking him and his following is sufficiently large that social media channels will will pay him for advertising space. I assume the more irate people get to the point of hitting him, the more money he can earn.

It's a strange world.

Report him to the CAA! He is likely unlicensed (or quickly will be if he is flying low and pestering people / flying for monetary gain).
