Thinking of fitting a stereo system in the car - will use a hidden bluetooth amplifier and link to the phone, but trying to work out a good location for the speakers.

Any tips or recommendations? (1972 4/4 4 seater)

I've seen some nice 'hidden' underseat ones, but I use that area for oil/water/extinguishers etc.

Current thoughts are in the area between the wheel arch and the door (where my shoulder is when seated), or possibly on the inside of the rear panel where the spare wheel is. Is there enough depth to fit a speaker, or will I need to pack it out a bit? Don't think there's any space in the footwell.

The rear side panels were used by MMC & then they moved them to the A pillar area in the footwell by the door hinge.

Mine are JBL 5" units of 1999 fit and just behind my elbow area.

Hi I used a Bluetooth speaker then onto ear buds great but cut out to much outside noise to be really safe when driving,now use bone conducted head set (as used by joggers ect) allows you to be aware of all traffic noise .if like me you have a co pilot you need also a Bluetooth transmitter so 2 sets can coordinate to you phone or mp3 player.battery life on both headset and transmitter very good.

Thanks Richard - headsets are a bit too 'hi-tech' for me - prefer a speaker option. Currently use a standalone Bluetooth speaker behind the seat, but it needs recharging every so often and when I'm packing for a weeks holiday there's not much space for it, and the sound gets muffled.

I already have a bluetooth controller on the dash which connects to the phone and controls volume/skip function meaning I can leave the phone in my pocket. A hard wired bluetooth amp, connected to 2 or 4 speakers would be perfect.

Try a Kenwood KAC-M1824BT The number is important as this model has a remote which is the bluetooth receiver - it also handles a radio input. This is the unit MMC SHOULD have put in the new Plus Four but they went with the cheaper 1814 which a) Hasn't got a remote and B) hasn't got a fader control so you can set the balance between the front and rear speakers!!

Probably going for a Velex VX-505. 4x60W channels, and around £70.
