Not quite "Driving my Aero" but rather waving it off as it's off to Brands Hatch Morgan to remedy a coolant leak!

Water leak resolved yesterday (split elbow hose) so was delighted to pick the Aero up at 18:30 and enjoyed a blast home (just to check the coolant system was holding pressure you understand)!

That is good news. Both the fix and that it was something relatively simple.

Hi Paul, yes relieved it was something very easy to fix (not an internal engine issue), just a little frustrating on the cost perspective with the several hours of labour involved to get the bodywork off and on and that fact that the hose in question is no longer made by MMC. A new part had to be made up by the dealer which proved time-consuming due to the angle of the bend and the fact that each end of the small elbow has to be a different diameter!

Hi Paul
I feel as every year goes by the less support from MMC on critical parts that leave you waiting for months to get a specialist to (hopefully) make them! For such an expensive car its poor effort!
Glad you got sorted!

Hi Taffy, I agree and its also very short sighted on a number of fronts: 1. Loss of a reliable and continual revenue stream from a Parts Department; 2. The ability to keep more of their older cars on the road with a reputation fro longevity; 3. The attraction of a younger client base who can only afford the older less expensive cars to get them in to the Morgan brand and culture (many younger owners will not accept these challenges and lack of support from MMC), which one day may lead to another new car purchaser; 4. Some (not all I hasten to add) after-market parts may not be as reliable as a factory produced part and may lead to reputational damage to MMC.

Anyway - delighted to be back on the road and keeping the locals awake with the side exit pipes! innocent

I think the secret is to keep sharing information Morgan clearly aren 't interested. I phoned for a rear wheel bearing a couple of months ago to be told they didn't keep them anymore, got a price from a fabricator who always seems to have it on the shelf but never picks up messages. I eventually got one a third of the price quoted from a fairly local bearing supplier. It was suggested i try the yellowstuff brake pads from a very helpful internet supplier and were shipped direct next day. A local garage did a very good job once I sourced the parts, pulling the bearing out of the hub was a bit of a bugger it was a good choice to pass it on to them. Em

Do I not remember something about Morgan contracting their spares business out to an external supplier some time back? Does this have any bearing on the lack of bearings etc ? Unipart is rattling around in my sub-functional name store ?

Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

IIRC it's the shiny accessories and clothing that's handled by a subbie, Leacy Classics ?
