I must be an idiot. I saw most of the programme and I thought the coverage of 'artisanal' mining of cobalt was insightful. What should it have told us , that it failed to do, please?
Are the complaints about the fact that the BBC didn't discuss the benefits of EV's?

Is this not a malady of all so called news reporting these days. The BBC has become a shadow of its former self. If you watch a news program most of the time it is a BBC reporter interviewing a BBC "correspondent" stating the bleeping obvious. Standards have fallen and Panorama has completely lost its reputation for quality investigations. Or showing a twitter post/FB blah as "proof" of it being real. Always love those. From Wiki (for what that is worth given anyone can edit it) "The department's annual budget is in excess of £350 million; it has 3,500 staff, 2,000 of whom are journalists.[2] BBC News' domestic, global and online news divisions are housed within the largest live newsroom in Europe, in Broadcasting House in central London." You have to ask what are the additional 1,500 doing. My mistake - they are making it up.

I would have liked to see the BBC present at least something in mitigation for Tesla, and for EV’s in general.
Yes, they could have mentioned, for example, that Tesla are switching to LFP batteries - which are cobalt free. Model 3's now use LFP batteries. But that doesn't make good telly.

Yep, the Beeb have certainly fallen a long way from the Reithian ideal of 'Educate, Inform, Entertain'. But what are the alternatives? Apart from C4, every other documentary produced seems to be about either Sharks or Hitler. Have anyone watched the equivalent national broadcaster in other countries recently. I regret that they have all descended in a similar way , and as most were starting from a lower base the results are pretty appalling. The BBC is far from perfect, and has lost its way a bit , but it is still streets ahead of most others IMHO.

It seems to me that the shift away from NMC batteries to LFP is inevitable as they are much lower cost and much safer when punctured. The issue of lower energy density seems to have been overcome by BYD in China and therefore it looks like manufacturers will be able to produce cars at a compatible cost to IC cars using these batteries.
This will give the BBC an opportunity for another programme - How Tesla have devastated economies of the Congo as a result of a shift away from Cobalt.
