Hi all! I'm in the process of installing the Bleazey bevel box mounts in a new-ish to me 2017 M3W with about 17K miles on it. I've just started cleaning out the accumulated dust and debris and noticed the chassis cross-brace underneath where the belt runs is abraded. ![[Linked Image]](https://tm-img.com/images/2021/12/30/IMG_20211230_102113.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://tm-img.com/images/2021/12/30/rubbing2.jpg) The rubbing is still shiny, so doesn't seem like some historic problem. I'm guessing a combination of the NVH overshooting and bending down and the lower half of the belt flapping around on lifting off throttle? Has anyone else noticed this happening?

As they say with many British low volume cars, "they all do that sir". It is usually a very minor rub (like yours), maybe a bit more if the drive belt has been on the loose side. On my M3W I put a thin piece of sheet aluminium in the area of the rub with a pair of Jubilee clips either side to hold it in place. It helps protect the chassis but also reduces the clearances slightly, so more rub. The same bit of aluminium has been on there for thousands of miles.
No signs of damage to the belt and not a big problem to my mind. Your guess about the cause is about right I think. The designed lack of clearance maybe another consequence of the change to a heavier duty belt drive in the very early M3W production, as are the tyre sidewall and shock absorber clearances I suspect..

Good to know "they all do that sir"  I like the sacrificial aluminium idea. I'll have a rummage in the shed later. Thanks for putting my mind at rest, I'm new to this fiddling with cars thing!

Great Morgan engineering prowess - looks like they put the drain hole on the top of the chassis tube?
