Hi All

Am I missing something? When I drop the hood of my 1998 plus 4, it flops into the space behind the seats. It looks scruffy and flaps in the wind. I take off the side screens and put them in their bag. That sits over the floppy hood. Balancing, precariously, on the electrical cut-off switch. It only scared me once. The whole lot looks a mess. My rear rack is the non-screen holding type. I know I can bungee the screens to the rack or spend £700 plus Brexit tax (I’m in France) and get a new rack. Do you all just live with it because it’s a Morgan or do you have a tidy solution? Thanks in advance for replies.

My screens fit neatly, in their cover, flat on the shelf behind the seats. Not sure why yours wouldn't? I have a hood cover which matches the rest of the weather equipment. I tend to use that in the summer when the (easy-up) hood's permanently down. But TBH I don't find the folded hood that untidy even without it - and it doesn't flap if I tuck the side flaps inside the hood frame. Later hoods have press studs on the frame to clip the flaps to: mine pre-dates that minor mod - although I keep thinking I might add some studs for what it's worth.

I’m going to try that. I never thought of tucking the sides under, I leave them connected. Or, at least, until now.

Here is the maestro Phil Benfield showing how it is done.

I have an everflex hood on my car. 9 stud not easy up.
If I have the hood fitted instead of the tonneau cover I leave it partly fitted at the rear. Basically the rear studs are fitted. I then fold it in using the rear clear screens as a guide leaving the rear side flaps part out. These are then fitted back. It creates a rear shelf cover type effect with the clear screen area uppermost. I lightly push the middle down a bit to allow rear mirror vision. If it rains heavily enough it is easy to pull the hood forward and fit the front studs, almost like an easy up hood. Another option, if our dog is on board on the rear shelf, is to fold the sides in as well and push it down while the rear studs are still fitted.

That’s the video for the easy up. All it does is make jealous. Mine is the fairly hard up. I think I need to practice. I’ve been leaving the side poppers connected, which I will stop doing.

Have you got the hood pivots? They make fitting the hood sooooo much easier. I retro fitted some on my first Morgan after struggling with the hood.

Hi, yes I do. The hood is fine, it’s just a bit of a faff when it’s down. It seems like it’s my fault. I’ll tuck the sides under and put the screen bag flat on the shelf.

Graham, it sounds to me that you have the 9 or 10 stud fixing "non easy up" hood.

In which case I think most don't just fold it down still attached to the frame but remove it completely then fold it and stow it on the back parcel shelf.

It take a few minutes extra but it's a lot neater.

That is exactly what I do using an old towel to protect the clear screens, provides neat stowing and space on the shelf never had an issue putting the roof up if rain comes along.
