Good evening.

On my 1967 Morgan +4 I have the standard 12v +/- dual sockets.

Wondering if there are any known places to purchase items that fit, i.e. looking for an iPhone charger option.

I understand that a portable light was initially manufactured but have been trawling the internet for items.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Warmest regards

Stephen

I believe the earlier Landrovers (and nuffield tractors) had the same socket on the dash.

Are you looking for 'period' accessories? (obviously not a period phone charger 🙂) ... if so here's a vid of an inspection lamp from an old landrover .... probably available from ebay if you can wait a bit.

If you want the socket to power modern accesories then you can still buy the plug to suit the socket and fit it to whatever you want.

Was looking at similar sockets myself recently

Landy plug

Sockets/plug

Sockets

I'd probably wire in a cigarette style socket to the pins and then use standard chargers etc.

I would forget the OE inspection lamp sockets and fit a dedicated panel mount USB socket(s) hard wired to vehicles 12 volt supply before or after ignition switch as required. Something like link below.

If you do want to utilise the OE inspection light sockets for other than USB purpose a matching plug can be obtained as below as it was also standard fit on Series Land Rovers.

Thank you very much for the info, I was hoping that there was something made up / on the shelf for an iPhone to plug into.

I think it will have to be as Richard suggested.

Warmest regards,

Stephen

A wise decision Stephen. The chances of finding ready made adaptors for electrical technologies nearly 60 years apart would likely be zero.

There is a US company giving them away with a restoration Landrover Series 2, although will not sell me one.
The above plug and a cig' lighter attached to a wire, easy to build as both are readily available in the internet.

Will give it ago as it will also fit my Seres2 A Landy.

The standard Lucas plug for the dashboard sockets are available online at Holden UK.

I’ve gone another route. I have a connector wired to my battery terminals to quickly connect/disconnect from my trickle charger. I purchased a usb charger that connects to that same connector. You can see the charger and the connector type here.

The cable that goes from my battery to the matching connector end came with my trickle charger.

I do have a Lucas worklite that I connect to my dash socket, with a snazzy modern LED bulb in it, will post a pic when I can.
