My Plus Four went to Morgan last week for it's first 3 month service. As usual a few niggles but the one that perplexes me is the clock. When I drive it at night the clock is barely illuminated. In fact so barely illuminated you can't even tell the time. I was told this is normal but surely on a car so expensive that cannot be normal. Do all of you Plus Four owners have the same problem?

i recently fitted a new Smiths analogue clock to my Mog, and the illumination is also in the 'chocolate teapot' category. At some point I need to see if I can find a brighter bulb (LED?) that's compatible. From what I remember from fitting, it is tiny and not a size I'm familiar with.

If you can access behind the central clock on dash, very likely it will have a replaceable LED for illumination. Your dealer may have more info/experience.

Could well be the T10 capless fittng as Jon shows above. If that proves to be the case you have a variety of illumination and colours available on eBay. Suggest going for Canbus friendly type.

Changed the one on my Roadster when it blew which was a blessing because colour was way different to main instrument illumination. Interestingly the old one was LED as well despite my car only a few months older than Jon's.

Lots on ebay. But a word of warning I did that conversion on my S1 Roadster. LEDs don't create heat so the gauges can / will mist up worse than with conventional bulbs

Believe it or not I don’t even think there’s a bulb. At least if there is I would have expected Morgan to have replaced it yesterday.

It could be it's integrated into the instruments electronics but surprised if there is no provision for replacement, especially as it's a separate instrument in the dash cluster.

LED illumination in general has a substancially longer service life than filament bulbs, but it's been demonstrated to me both at home and on my Morgan that poor quality LED's can give quite short service life in some cases.

Agreed Richard we are on our third LED bulb in the kitchen set of 10 or so. The oldest are 5 years old in June so well below the stated life you see on the packs.

I hope the LED headlights are better.

I just had the same argument with the factory over my clock in my Plus Four, from. I asked if it would be possible to fit an LED from the fuel gauge, but no, the whole clock would need to be charged.
