In the forest at Nimbin I touched a 4 metre + Carpet Python on the tail. It was minding its own business and didn't give a damn about 3 humans walking behind it - until I touched it that is.
This Nimbin? Maybe it was no snake but an illusion resulting from the local specialities ![[Linked Image]](https://up.picr.de/43177246tt.png) that's the one....

At age 5 we were posted to KL Royal Malaysian Air Force base as Dad and some others did training for them. We saw some wonderfully funny things.
One day Mum sent us (close friend) to get our Dad's from the officers mess. It was the other side of the golf course from our housing. I kicked a large stick fallen on the floor as I was crossing. About 5-6 feet away the other end of the stick pop's into the air to shows it's annoyance. We ran as fast as out little legs could take us!
The other fun one was croc's (alligators?) in the storm drains that ran around everywhere. The locals were very adept at collecting them. The guards tend to shoot them which took a couple of .303 and a long wait to see if they were indeed actually dead.
What wonderful times they were.
Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

Snakes....I don’t mind them but....
I was fishing one evening on the river Tywi a couple of miles up from Carmarthen. Setting the gear up to run a worm down. Bugger! Left the worms at home. I spotted a couple of logs so lifted one up. Adders under there! After that I never used my hands to lift stuff. A family friend was a doctor and he came out to help hay gathering on my uncle’s farm. We had stacked bales the previous evening ready to liad the next morning. He pushed an arm into a gap and got bitten by an adder. No major problem apart from a swollen arm and nausea.
When in the cigar factory we had customs officers based permanently there. They also covered Barry docks where the Geest banana boats came in. They used to check for contraband. A walking stick was an essential item to poke into places checking for “nasties” before closer inspection. Smugglers sometimes placed snakes, spiders there as frighteners. Some would get trapped during loading too.
The tobacco we imported sometimes contained odd things. Anything living wouldn’t get through due to infestation procedures. We had one small monkey compressed in a bale ( fell in ) of Brazilian tobacco. Lizards, flues but I never saw a snake. Notes from husband seeking ladies too with contact phone numbers, addresses.
