Come on Perry, 300 miles round is just a nice day out, well worth a look I’d say. Can’t offer any advice you wouldn’t already know, the thing with classics, everything has a value, if you don’t pay too much, anything will resell if you want out.
I need to shoot out so no time right now, but let’s post some library pictures of all the series of these, i didn’t realise how nice the series four looked, I like the little grill and the Rolls Royce lights!

You mean this type, i owned this from 2012 up to last year, i wish it drove as well as it looked, as said, delicate and
temperamental, windows, electrics, suspension, it is based and grown from a late 60s car so we cant expect to much,
however i do have some fond picnic memories with short journeys down to the Beach and back.

Apologies!

I didn't end up going last weekend as I didn't have anyone to watch my dog. However, he's spending the weekend away so all being well I hope to go on Sunday.

If you've been following my last few threads, I am in the mindset of wanting change. A new Plus Four isn't 100% out of the race but signs are pointing to me holding on to little Oliver for a bit more. This retailer also has a Mercedes R107 SL that I'd be keen to sit in. I've often hung around TheSLShop's stand at the NEC Classic Car Show. Along with the Alfa, that SL holds a soft spot. My gut feeling tells me the SL would be more robust and better suited as a second 'classic' and could handle daily driving when the weather suits.

Clearly I have too much time on my hands

Aside from possible rust issues (even hidden ones) that an R107 can have, it is a fantastic car. Very reliable and with a wonderful cruising factor. Of course different from a Spider, but I was very pleasantly surprised when we had a 450SL for four years.
The rust problems are not a no go but you should look twice. (I guess with the Alfa Spider even three times...).

Oh Perry, go with the Spider, you know you want to and in that brilliant yellow you are most unlikely to see another.

Here for a good time not a long time!!

I do love the Spider, but when a Benz 107SL is the other option I would skip the Alfa.
The Mercedes is an other level and it is unfair to compare both cars.

(Personal opinion only)

Thank you All.

I ended up not seeing the Spider. Looking into the car more, and taken advice from others, this car could be a can of worms not worth opening. It's a very low mileage car yet fresh paint and new interior, to name just one.
