MINI - that's what BMW called them to differentiate from the original Mini...

Years ago, I had an original Mini and that was fun. Now I've got a modern BMW Mini and it's also fun, more fun in my opinion, and much better made. Hopefully we can all agree that we can be thankful BMW decided to make a modern Mini because it's a great car and still feels a relatively individual choice in today's monotony of European & Far Eastern shopping trolley cars - quite simply it has character.
Back on topic, I took my S1 Aero out last Sunday for the first run of the year. I've been fortunate enough to have had many interesting cars over the years, including half a dozen classics, but honestly the Aero is the only once that I have ever looked forward to driving with such anticipation, and it never fails to reward that. I only did a 20 mile blast, but it really is such a superb machine - Can't see me ever selling it because I know I'll not get anything more individual, rare or rewarding without spending very much more. Why would I do that when I have a car that gives me everything I crave as a Petrohead?

Pedant mode on...please stop calling 'em Mini as I get all excited because that's a proper old school Mini A BMW is a MINI, and as for all this John Cooper Works stuff, poor old JC would be turning in his grave to see his name emblazoned on some of these ugly bloated pimped up, oversized stuff And...relax, I'm off for a rub down with a damp edition of the Radio Times You can’t beat a Mini!

Totally agree with both of those. ( Mog - Even when they are broken they are still pretty to look at!) Years ago, I had an original Mini and that was fun. It is Friday, so I'm spending the day at my Day Care Centre AKA Boscombe Down Aviation Collection.... A glorious drive up in Tarka, now watching the people jumping out of an aeroplane...they think it is fun.... Anyway, two Morgans arrived and had an enjoyable time looking at the collection!

Very nice day for it. It’s a couple of years since I visited and sat in Tarka!

I loved sitting in (I think it was but my memory?) the Sycamore and seeing how utterly basic the controls and instruments were. Flying by the seat of your pants never felt more apt.
