As usual, a plethora of April Fools japes this morning on the internet. They are so ubiquitous now that I doubt anyone is genuinely fooled.

This took a bit of finding but I'm glad to see it is still there 32 years later. From a more innocent age, I'm not sure this is the first "April Fool" joke I posted online but it's certainly one of the earliest.

In the Digital VAXNotes conference CARS_UK 1st April 1990, under the pseudonym David CHATOG (an anagram!):

"New model for Morgan"

1000.0. "New model for Morgan" by BUNTY::CHATOGD (David Chatog, UK WUM (833 3333).) Sun Apr 01 1990 14:06
I read in the latest Autocar that Morgan are rumoured to be developing a
new model, but no details are available yet. Has anyone any further
information?

Dave.

Interesting to read some of the humorous responses from others playing along, including "it will be automatic only" and "probably another 3 wheeler". How we laughed!

I worked for a printer distributor many years ago. We sent out a press release on behalf of one of our vendors about a new product.

The automated printer shredder for high security environments. It was a mock up we made in engineering that had a big dot matrix printer which had a feed that came out of a sound absorbing printer hood and went across the cover and then fed down into a slot which we claimed was a paper shredder. So you could read it and then it would be instantly destroyed for security. We pitched it as ideal for the Military and other sensitive markets.

I guess we could sell a few to Columbia and Putin these days, maybe we should look into actually making it!

It got some good press coverage. We even had a few enquiries.

(The vendor who's name we used phoned us a couple of weeks later asking how sales were going and professing not to realise that they actually made that product)

Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

Years ago a friend in the RAF sent an advert on Tippex headed notepaper to the quartermaster`s office for a new product which was a spray can of Tippex for erasing entire pages. As there was so much fluid it also was necessary to buy a drying cabinet to dry the erased paper.
Frighteningly, he got a reply with orders for several. confused2

It's a long time ago, black and white tele actually, but I still think the failure of the spaghetti harvest was the best I've ever seen.

Here for a good time not a long time!!
