No exterior locks or even handles on my car so that is the procedure, an arm through the window is the way in. (I've often had people watch me do it but I've never been challenged!)

Curiously there are actually locks, operated by flicking a little tag next to the interior handle. I'm not sure of the purpose.

Same on my 4/4.

It's all about your own comfort zone though and where you live and or park up I suppose.

An alternative point of view is that with locked doors and hood up an opportunist may be put off. A determined thief would find (easily) a less damaging way of breaking in, and to a pure vandal door locks wouldn't even be tried.

Thats a good point - if I lock my Corsa with the central locking you can open it from the inside with just the door handle. Not tried locking it with the key.

Most 'blipper' operated central locking requires a 2nd blip, the first just locks, the second deadlocks so thieves breaking a window can't pop the door open from the inside door latch

Have the CX owners tried the 2nd blip technique ??

Just a bump for this one, can someone with a CX try the double blip & let us know ??

I have to say that I have been somewhat amused by some of the posts on this thread. As far as I know all modern cars with central locking allow for the doors to be opened from the inside when locked outside. I would guess that it may well part of the construction and use reg's that this is the case to allow people to get out of the car in the case of an emergency. Certainly both our tintops work this way.

My Plus Four locks both doors on one press of the button on the remote. Both doors can be opened from the inside. There is no "double blip".
Both doors unlock on one press too.

The key locks both doors and both can then be opened from the inside. However if you unlock with the key the driver's door unlocks whilst the passenger door remains locked.

The Plus 8 has standard Trad Mog door catches, a key lock on the outside and the little lever on the inside, but they don't seem to be connected in any way.

The Tesla...yes, well there are no locks on the outside or inside... No traditional key either.
The car locks as you move off and to unlock there is an icon on the touch screen.
Leaving the car it locks itself after a few seconds..and unlocks as you approach: in many ways it is as easy as the Mog as no user thought is required.
I can also lock and unlock and do many other things with the phone App.

Talking of phone Apps, I have one that tells me things about the Mog, thanks to the GTE Tracking system, as used on the CX series cars: here is an example.

There is a lot more, including showing the exact route of the last drive.
As can be seen, since 1 April the battery voltage is unchanged.

Talking of things tracking you I could barely believe this localish news report doh

I feel sorry for all the good community minded Coppers out there when you read of yet another bent one. You can't help feeling that something is radically wrong with the recent recruitment process imho.

Apologies for the drift thumbs

There are about 160,000 police in the UK. Expected to be one or two dodgy ones amongst all the good.

Like Tory politicians - I'm sure there's at least one good one amongst the contemptible dross.. smile

And back on thread, my vauxhall 'second blip' engages secondary deadlocks. My other halfs Hyundai only has a single 'blip' option.

Yes that sounds about right and yup there will always be some bad apples in the barrel.

Our Fiesta and Polo are double blippers also.
