Although as i recall the saying is "One bad apple will spoil the whole barrel" rather than the sense in which it is often used, which is to imply that the bad apples are just the odd one or two. The true meaning is more like if you don't get the bad apples out, the problem will spread.

On topic content: the Mini is a single click operation, except for the tailgate, which will open if you just have the key in your pocket. Obvs designed for when you have your hands full with shopping. It offers keyless entry on the other doors too if you want, but you've still got to grab hold of the door handle and pull so I'm struggling to see where the value lies.

To be honest in the case of the Tory Party I was dead right, there is not one I would employ to walk a cat..

We can but hope the Met is not as badly infected but based on recent history I am not convinced that I'm not right there as well and the rot has set in.

Back on thread the Plus 8 has no central locking..

I would guess that it may well part of the construction and use reg's that this is the case to allow people to get out of the car in the case of an emergency. Certainly both our tintops work this way.

My Plus Four locks both doors on one press of the button on the remote. Both doors can be opened from the inside. There is no "double blip".
Both doors unlock on one press too.

The key locks both doors and both can then be opened from the inside. However if you unlock with the key the driver's door unlocks whilst the passenger door remains locked.

Many modern cars have a deadbolt function which is activated by hitting lock twice on the fob. The first locks the doors where you can still unlock it from the inside but a double press of the lock button deadbolts the doors where one can't get out. IIRC a warning message about this is flashed up in some cars. The double lock on others disables the interior motion sensor so there is some truth around hitting lock twice for other functions.

Depending upon the setting for the locks on my VW a single blip unlocks the driver's door only & a double blip all doors. This is to stop the great unwashed nipping into the car as you get in as a driver.
