its been like it for 7 years John, unable to source a new one, its MKC10034E, so its earlier than your old one and does not have a key fob facility. car has had one before according to history.
The only ones I have found are grubby looking, often from overseas and stupid prices.

I have learnt to like with this quirk, but if any body knows of one, be delighted.
(apologies for drifting a bit)

@jbk, thank you that is of course tried many times within the trials. So far it always started within a second and now these serious problems that arose after a long drive with higher outside temperature.
Currently I think in two directions. Fuel temperature sensor in the rail. I'm waiting for my replacement part. And according to sherlock holmes, if the logical can be ruled out, the improbable must take center stage. Maybe my LMM was defective and the used replacement part is as well. On the fuel pressure regulator, I tested a new part that didn't work from the factory. Sometimes it is just like that.

One question: what happens when the ignition coil +/- connections are reversed?

Assuming connections were correct to start with, by reversing them, the voltage produced should be the same and the engine should still run BUT the actual spark would be weaker. Its all to do with electrons preferring to jump from the very hot electrode in the centre of the plug, to the relatively cooler surroundings of the plug body.

After reading a lot in gomog I have the suspicion that it is the only sensor that has not yet been delivered. Gasoline temperature.
Starts badly and goes out when warm. also, the part is extremely sensitive. According to the text, every Rover EFI +8/+4 should have a replacement in the glove box.

I will report when it is replaced.

thanks to all

It was a hairline crack in the distributor finger. It started cold with difficulty but as it got warmer it misfired and then died. I already had a replacement lying here, but in the original an aluminum sleeve is pressed in which was missing in the spare parts. So I have the it gently broken out and pressed into the new finger.
Thus, it runs smoothly again and the summer can come.

thanks to all
