Been idly looking for a new mechanical watch and have given up on the Rolex " we might put your name on the waiting list if you also buy lots of expensive jewelry" sales system. I came across Ward and found that they sell a whole range of Morgan watches. As in Morgan

Anyone bought them? If so, do they work well or are they a designer outside on a cheepo movement?

I have a CW Morgan watch ( the quartz C3 at the lower end of their range although I prefer the look of the black C1) Its behaved impeccably during my ownership. Theres a very vocal CW group on Facebook who express the full range of experiences. Generally folk are very happy with the product they have for the price they pay

A lot of folk comment on how good and bad their after sales service is too.

They regularly do 'special offers' which range from £100 vouchers to 20% off and they have sales twice per year offering bigger discounts.

check out their website and sign up for their newsletter and you may well receive one of the offers

I seem to have signed up for the emails by accident so I get the offers.

I have a C3 too, very pleased with it and never had any trouble. It is very well made.

There are several previous threads here. In particular, scroll down past the initial replies in each of these:

If you’d like a few alternatives, here are some other options:-

https://autodromo.com/watches/

Autodromo do small runs, so styles change over time and watches come and go. I have a Group B and I like the motorsport insperation.

Of course we also have our very own member who makes watches:

https://www.gasgasbones.com/about-6b

Again, small run, so you may have to be patient.

And another UK based small watch Co

https://www.pinionwatches.com/

There are others but if you want something that isn’t mass produced, there are some great options out there.

I collect watches - but have yet to add a Bremont. But had a tour around their factory recently and was very impressed with what the brothers have achieved.

I agree that the Patek and Rolex dealer games are ridiculous, which is a shame as there are some interesting watches from both.

I'm a big fan of Omega - I think there are some Omegas that easily rival Rolex.

Well, same parent company....

I have a mechanical JeagerLC and it went away for a service which I was advised would take two/three months.

I bought a lovely self winding German mechanical watch to cover the period (man logic applied) and love it.

I think it was roughly this model in black body and black strap. They had a sale on and it was about £300 from memory.
https://www.laco-watches.com/en/wat...ch-augsburg-42mm-automatic-leather-strap

It has been excellent with little to no marking on the body and the strap has remained intact. It feels very solid and I thought it great value. You can see the mechanism through the glass back just like a £20k Panerai

The watch cost less than the JLC service. Made me think.

Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.
