Nice choices K, all have wonderful engines to polish and admire. If I remeber correctly, I think the Daimler used Triumph m/cycle pistons and rods as the designer of both Triumph and Daimler engines was HenryTurner..?

Assuming an unlimited budget - it would be a Bob Petersen Bentley Blue Train recreation and set off on a Grand Tour of Europe for a year or so.

Luddite .... Close, his mate Edward 🙂
Proper jewel of an engine .... only downside was the iron block vs the Rover's alloy one .... in reality only 30kg difference and careful placing of the engine install and some dosh spent on light modern ancilliaries and that wouldn't be a problem
K
Ps .... and it was a 'hemi' too 😍

it's an XK 120 for me, despite it faults One of those (SE Roadster) and a Talbot Lago T150 SS, with a side order of a DBR2. And maybe an Elan with Mrs Peel in it.

At the risk of slightly drifting this thread, I would like to raise the spectre of "Cars I fancied but am really really glad I didn't buy". Top of that pile is a Marcos Mantis (the 1968 model). I almost bough the aubergine one in Wiltshire about 25 years ago. My excuse at the time was that my garage was not long enough......Oh and the interior smelled of a public toilet. The archive pic of the blue one makes it look almost attractive (or striking maybe ????). ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2022/04/20/Marcos-Mantis-aubergine.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2022/04/20/Marcos-Mantis-blue.jpg)

We can see it’s bad, why couldn’t Marcos see it?

Remarkably Rich we have very similar tastes on what to do with unlimited wealth, though I would leave it locked in a garage while enjoying the summer in southern Europe.
