Does anyone know which paint manufacturer was being used by MMC for their cars when mine left the factory September/October 2005?

Thanks in advance.

Sorry I do not know for sure, but as no one else has jumped in yet.... From a dull memory 80`s paint codes related to ICI Belco line cellulose. Kevin the chap who ran a bodywork/paintshop business and rebuilt the +8 I own used PPG brand paints (two pack) and I think Kevin used to have links to the MMC... Just clutching at straws. I think I have some old PPG tins up in the garage attic that may have details if that might help with manufacturers address etc..?

ICI and PPG are the same company effectively. A good motor paint supplier / factor should be able to help. Dean Royale on here is in the business of car paint / refinishing

Thanks for the inputs.

I know the colour of the car but unfortunately I have to have a small repair done to the front wing courtesy of an idiot last weekend. I have been told that although the paint can be easily matched, with the intensity of the sun down here the individual pigments can change thereby changing the colour of the paint. Apparently different paint manufacturers often had different combinations to arrive at the final colour; so although the finished product was the same the individual ingredients were different.

Yes basically you blend concentrates to get a finished colour & dilute them in a varnish.
A good car spray shop will have a hand held device (a spectrophotometer) that scans the colour of your car as it is now (not all colurs especially reds are light fast & will fade). Thy then blend a mix to match the car.

I think that I get the question.

A few years ago I had a slight bump on the front wing of my TR and it was repainted in what was an 'identical colour' matched paint. The problem is that over time they have aged differently and the wing is now a completely different shade than the rest of the car.

Maybe if the repaint was not only the same colour, but also the same brand, they would both have aged gracefully together.

Is that what lies behind the question?

That was how I read the question from the OP - the same fade rate being important.

Which is why folk like Allon White insist you respray a larger area , say a full wing. Then it is less noticeable.

An update on my question provided by MMC:

"The paint manufacturer used at that time was PPG Nexa (ICI)."
