Hi. Yes there’s an aluminium plate above the electronics and below the plastic cover with a nice seal around the edge. Bit moot really as the screwdriver orifice is open, just very hard to see if the screwdriver is engaged or not, hence taking the top off. It’s a 20 turn pot so can’t be sure if you’re turning the pot or fresh air.

Cheers

There is another quirky thing to check whilst you have the voltmeter there and that is that the MAF is not earthed. It happens that the hoses can carry earth and if they touch the MAF it can cause erratic readings, I know from personal experience. You should be able to tell that screwdriver is engaged because your voltmeter reading will change, if you do change the settings then you will need to check your base idle again.

Hi again, yes done both but thanks for the reminder. It certainly idles more smoothly now, can’t say about how well it drives as we’ve enjoyed a Welsh spring day here today, ie, it’s raining!

Original reading was around 0.4v and the first few turns produced no change, then just a couple of turns took it from 0.4 to over 2v, had to back off gradually the get down to 1.7. It’s all good fun though.

Well, the roundabout continues to revolve.

Drive to a little car meet tonight, no dramas. nice smooth idle, no cutting out, strong engine, so that might be grounds for optimism.

I also visited the nice chap at Tornado this morning, they seem to wok in very simple numbers 1, 2 3 and so on. Just all with three zeros on the end. They’ll install one of their tornado chips and set it up on the RR for about £1000, if it needs injectors then it’ll be around £2000, ecu, stepper and throttle pot add another £1000!

I quite fancy the former but wouldn’t want to fork out the latter, so I’m dithering a bit but as they have a 6 week waiting list I’ve plenty of dithering time ahead.

Do it yourself it really is not that difficult (I have no engineering training) and a hell of a lot cheaper. Mark helped me remotely by email with all the setup requirements answering promptly any questions I had.
