Just had a first look at the new Grenadier. Wow! The real deal. And I see no competitor out there.

It does look good. I’ve been looking at the web site every so often since it was announced. Still no pricing information.

If it had air suspension, I’d be tempted as then I could cart my parents round in one.

Well that was spooky. The email with the link to pricing just landed in my inbox. £59,000 inc VAT + a few well priced extras but no air suspension option.

I like this car. The true successor to the original Land Rover.

It does look good and I was very tempted. Test driving a new Defender next week as that is closest to our needs. Need to

Tow 3.5T - on and off road
Collect 12 bales of shavings (need row 2 to fold flat)
Transport two 91 year olds at times (air suspension essential)
Be comfortable on long journeys
Have reasonable economy

The Grenadier does some of these but not all. The Defender does them all.

Contractors etc will buy them in large numbers though.

I have a brand new Land Rover Defender 110. With the P400 L6 petrol engine. It's incredibly powerful and fast. But if you are towing heavy weights on a regular basis, the diesel L6 engines may be a better option, and more economical to run. The D300 looks simply perfect for your purposes, Paul!

But hey! Despite it has air suspension, it's still very tall in the lowest position. My father (78 years old) says it's a lot more comforatble to get in, than the previous (and much lower) Jaguar F-Pace we got. The reason is that, despite it's higher, the roof is so much higher that he hasn't to bend hi neck to get in. He says this is the key for him to say it's more comfortable. But I insist: it's still quite high!

Thanks Javier. We have our eyes on the D250 as our current Discovery 4 is 255bhp and seems to cope well with towing our horses - we cannot go too fast with them aboard!. My aged parents have told us that they much prefer riding in our Discovery 4 as opposed to our Mini Clubman. The 50mm lowered Discovery is easier for them to get into than the very low Mini.
