When mounting roller bearings on the spindle (king pin) axle on my Morgan plus 8, 2001, I experienced great difficulties.
When loosening the top screw on the king pin the lower horizontal axle dropped down some mm. The existing ½” BSF x1.5” screw was now too short and did not catch the king pin axle thread.
By first using a 2.5” and then a 2” screw together with a small jacket at the bottom of the king pin horizontal axle I succeded to raise the axle successively and finally I could catch the king pin threads using the original 1.5” screw.
It was hard work and by far more complicated than described on the web as GOMOG. Has anyone else experienced this and is there a more simple solution?
Best Regards
Hakan Nilsson, Morgan plus 8 in Sweden
