Possibly true, but I can't help thinking that if one is going to put a hood up, one could reasonably expect it to keep the rain out? rofl

This reminded me of Stephen on here (currently in Malta) with his mature Plus 8 with his epic tours around Europe and doesn't even own a hood rofl

Mine is a 10 stud and goes up when the car goes in for it's annual MOT in November incase it has to play stopout.

The previous owner had an AW conversion done, I’ve had the car 14 years and am very happy with it. I think it looks better (cleaner) than the Simmonds option because it doesn’t have the external clips. A fellow Hopmogger recently had the AW conversion after checking out mine and he is delighted with it.

Yes Stephen is now in Malta. His car also sounds fantastic.

I've had a Simmonds hood for several years. Completely water tight even belting up a motorway. Quick to put up & stows neatly into an envelope. It sits on the edge of the bodywork so doesn't take up any luggage space. It's not a cheap job but definitely a quality one. I would definitely have another if needed to. He does a good matching tonneau as well.

How do you open the boot?

Owning both types I'd go for the traditional 10 stud Everflex hood every time, with John Taylor hood swivels. I can put the trad type up quicker every time when necessary.

I've also owned both types and my current 9 stud mohair is the best fitting one I've had and the easiest to put up.

If I was having a new 4 seat hood made, I'd ditch the rear side screens and have them integrated into the hood.

Once I can find a tame trimmer (mine has moved to Lincolshire) I'm going to have a couple of vertical zips put in either side of the rear window so I can access the rear seat for loading stuff, and have to give me the option of a more open cab if I'm driving with hood up, but no side screens.

Would also make it MUCH easier to fold up for storage. At the moment it is impossible without creasing the windows.

Thanks for the interesting posts probably looking at the AW one as cheaper.
Yes traditional hood for a 92 model is more original but after last monday when I went for a meet with my brother who was in his 2017 4/4
.we came out of his house to go and it started raining quite sharply. He put his hood up in the time it took.me to unclip my tonneau cover and get my hood out from its box behind the seats. My seats were soaked before it was up.🙁

While on the subject of hoods....I have recently noticed a part of the hood frame on my Roadster has a couple of elongated slots, are the bolts which pass through supposed to be tightened in "the optimal position" or free to move as part of the hood folding mechanism ? (One side is tight, the other slides).
