Perhaps the economic downturn is having its effect at Morgan but consider the Mclaren and the MP4-12C. Another thread this week discussed the documentary "How to build a supercar" which was a superb look into Mclaren motor manufacturing perfection. What amazed me most of all, was not the impressive attention to detail or the bloke who tuned the engine sound, but the courage to run with this very luxury product in this climate. They hope to sell 4000 units a year to get a return on their investment at £168K a pop. "Downturn what downturn"

it doesn't seem top be affecting certain German manufacturers? Really? My customers within BMW, Mercedes, Audi and Porsche tell me a different story. Perhaps you have the inside track on their sales figures?

Few car dealers are selling vehicles at the moment and production within the industry is slowing. If Morgan Motor Co are finding sales slow, I would view that indicative of the reluctance of many to spend on luxury items in uncertain economic times. This is absolutely true Trevor however I would like to add that there did seem to be a small number of vehicles stored awaiting delivery when I was at the factory in October. I doubt very much that there were many, if any, built only for stock. When I placed my order they did say I could have the car within 5 weeks, probably by swapping build slots around and making a dealer who already had some stock wait. It was not even suggested, or even hinted, that I could have a car already constructed. I suspect the rumour may be based on someone seeing the relatively small stock of cars awaiting delivery. I just had a look at the photo we took and I believe there are less than 30 cars in there. More 4/4s than anything else and in both Sport and Bespoke versions. In many cases it was possible to read the name of the person or company that had placed the order. I suspect the report is exagerated.

Certainly a very brave move in the current economic climate. Perhaps the product is in a sufficiently elevated market that the present downturn has little effect? I've no idea...

We should take into account that the limited edition of 60 P4SS is not to mix up with "normal" stockpiling finished cars as the big car companies do so. I guess that for MMC a pre production of 60 cars which are not ordered and therefore cannot be MTO items is unknown territory anyway.

When I was at the factory in early September, I think they were building mostly +4ss cars and little else. It seemed like they were being built in a big batch run.

Hey Guys!!!! I hear that the world could be coming to an end next week . I have to say that this Thread is the most Negative Thread on Talk Morgan that I have ever read. So much Contradictory Claptrap, motivated up by some 'Hearsay' from 'we do not really know where' (across the pond?) (no disrespect John+4). Among those 'GoMog Newswire' stories in that version, there appear a number of conflicts. Even The story there about the 'Le Mans Special' has its doubts. Even I could have started that one early this year when I suggested to a dealer that Morgan should consider using the V8 engine to make a Le Mans replica car for next years anniversary. Now someone else can jump in with the boot and counter this statemant. Its worse that that old wartime 'message passing' example used in management training courses these days. " We are going to Advance! send Reinforcements" arriving at the other end as " We are going to a dance. It costs Three & Four-pence". The message is out now. There may be someone 'wounded' around the corner in Malvern. Lets all go down there and give him a good Kicking. The longer I am a Morgan Owner - who loves his car and does not have a bad word to say about it - The less enamored I become about some of the wider Morgan Fraternity. If you don't rate the product, get rid. I think Its time to Hibernate .

Who is behind GoMog Newswire? On first view it looks like a Morgan enthusiasts site. But if you read the articles and look at the selection of pics it seems to be too negative. E.g. they couldn´t have found more unattractive pics regarding the front of the new Plus8+.

It is run by Lorne Goldman, who has some strong agendas re the marque. He has put together the Gomog site which is a wonderful resource, particularly for older models. However he seems to have an aversion to any idea brought in by Charles, and seems stridently opposed to any model based on a BMW engine. The Mogwire has put about many a rumour, not always accurate, in support of his views. Pity, as he has helped a lot of people over the years and ran a really useful forum which he closed down recently.
Cheers!
