More likely it will snap the Tennax studs in the body.

Yep I hate the bloody things. Mine will go on easily are bastards to undo and as you say if you forget will snap the stud.
Still Graham I guess you have also never put the hood up on your car.

I have replaced all the “ lift the dot” fixings on the front of mine. A couple were getting awkward. The turnbuckles are no problem.
I’ll take some photos of my hood in the folded position. When putting up you must release the side turnbuckles as the folded hood traps the hoops. One thing, though, the folded hood blocks rear viewing but simple pushing the centre down a bit cures this.

Correct John. Sidescreens still wrapped in The Times from 1998 - probaably stuck to them by now. Hood still folded and stored behind the seats. smile
Heading East for one night next week for a visit to East Kirkby - hope the weather holds for a Mog trip drive

I asked the same question, take a look here: Technique for fitting the hood?

Having said that, after 15 years I still haven't got the hang of it. confused2

I have only ever had the Trad Hood and would never spec anything else. I love it. Once you get the hang of it you can erect it in a jiffy (Ooh Err Missus !). My technique is to attach the interior rear studs first, then erect the hood support and attach the interior velcro straps to the frame, then move to the windscreen attaching the studs from the centre out. Once you've done that it's easy to attach the others in any order you want. With practice you can easily do it in well under 5 minutes. Who needs an Easy Up !

I agree - I do it in the same order you describe and usually manage to stay reasonably dry…

As per David above but before I drop the roof over the stainless hoops I attach a thin double bungee over the forward most hoop and attach it to the centre stud on the windscreen so you are not wrestling the collapsing hoops, works for me over 18 years..

That way you have an immediate bit of cover over the cockpit area.

That's a neat idea. I never thought of that.
