What a great idea, though for me I think it would be a 75th Anniversary 4/4. . .

idea

I have followed this thread with interest. The teething troubles mentioned make me feel slightly better about being unable to afford to even think about buying a new car. My '86 4/4 is SUPER reliable, comfortable and a brilliant car to drive - - it'd be nice to experience teething troubles tho!!
cheers

Perhaps if enough of us 'book' to turn up, they might make an occasion of it ? wine

If a date is set then I can try for a day off. Any day would suit as I do work some weekends!

Referring back to earlier comments about quality and problems, it is a hand-built individual machine, so that may well lead to human error, etc. (Not that robot built cars are immune to problems, as someone else already said.)

But the main point, surely, is if you buy a new car and encounter problems with it, you go straight back to your dealer and/or the company and discuss things. It is how they handle the complaint and learn from the matter which is the most important, as it is with any business. They should welcome feedback -- indeed, surely they do? Why wouldn't they?

Others who are more knowledgeable should answer this, but I would say a bit of both.
The total lack of Roadster Engines could be a partial cause. We hear of 600 forward orders for trikes but how many Roadsters could be on the line if they had the engines? It is not possible for them to switch everyone into Trike production.

Also with 'Kanban' appearing around the Morgan factory these days, this initial move towards 'Just In Time' work in process systems will have some effect if any key component is missing.

In a modern mechanised car plant, with typically 3 hourly JIT deliveries of all parts, the components suppliers have to be located close enough to the factory and locked into the supply chain to be able to maintain constant supplies in all events.

When 'Levis' manufactured Jeans in their own factories, if there was any possibility of a major supply hiccup, they would lay off a whole factory right away and for as long as it took to fix the supply problem (on Lay off reduced pay). Maintaining the factory internal system balance was fundamental to ensure no loss of productivity when the supply returned and the factory re opened.

Enjoy your visit Guys

Hi sospan,
good to here you are interested to add your name to a factory meet up.

This thread is now turning into a two subject thread and is difficult to follow.

I suggest we start a new thread regarding a meet up at the Morgan factory early in 2012, or at least, before the world ends and Morgan shuts it's doors. (that was just a poor joke). shocked2

Graham, would you like to do the honours ? It was your suggestion, therefore you should get the first word in.

Cheers,
N-M

Errr, yes, could do I suppose. There was aslo a suggestion to tie it in with a Prescott meeting. First one of those is a one-dayer, on a Saturday, in April. It's a comp meeting for BOC members with competition licenses. I don't yet have a list of corporate/club days, though I would think Drivers' Schools are already listed on the BOC/Prescott web site.
Give me a day or two.

Cheers,

Nice one Graham thumbs
You are not on your own....we are all right behind you !

Oh yes we are !

Just to get things a little clearer......If it is combined with the Prescott meeting, what date would that make it ? (I am new to all this 'event' stuff blush).

Well, this year's 'Season Opener' (a first since I've been involved there) is on Saturday 7th April.
Anyway I'll post that in a new thread together with an alternative (though the first weekend meeting may be a little late for some - in May).

Cheers,
