Monthly, or annual, subscription has been used by Mercedes for years to pay for extended navigation and other features. Extending that to other "nice to have" features makes a degree of sense as it allows the cars to be built with all the needed hardware and then activates, or not, using over the air software.
I'd pay to have lane control and other "nanny" features disabled, but I don't see it happening. The C43 is old enough not to have these features. The Tesla does, and once the Plus 8 is returned to health, it will go. Increasingly I'm minded never to buy a touch screen connected a computer and Bluetooth and to 4 wheels and stick with older cars.

I had a long chat at the VW dealers about cutting edge tech and the view was to avoid cars which need software upgrades and so on. For me a flat screen in a car is something to run away from.
Let the tecchy worshippers live with all that stuff!
I want a manual gearbox and a handbrake lever which sticks out of the floor. Simple enough requirement but getting harder to find.

I would best describe them as common virtues of the Aero platform. None of them terminal (maybe the starter for a short time) but all annoying and routine over time. Pretty much all seem to be due to low volume/development issues. They way the cabling is squished behind the dash leads to some interesting challenges with the warning lights glowing and possible snagging.
The twins are both sitting in the garage clicking when the starter is pressed at the moment. Cannot push the Coupe out as it is auto. So will wait for the Noco booster from Spamazon tomorrow and then look at sorting them both out. Otherwise push the S2 out, move the Mini in and use that to jump start the Coupe. Annoying thing is that both are SORN and so I cannot take them for a decent rumble to charge the battery. Looks like the trickle chargers are more like dribble chargers?
Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

That is super annoying, I recall you replacing a battery on one of them not so very long ago. The charging thing has reminded me of PJ's car and it seems likely that he had current leakage on his possibly due to a loom fault. He has had repeated battery failures if I recall correctly. Good luck with the starting and recommissioning. The Aero's seem a little like marrying a super model, expensive to run with a few flaws- but WOW when they are up and running

Give it 5 minutes and there'll be adverts for a £50 bypass for all features.

I’ve never seen the point of manufacturers doing away with dipsticks (oil) and sensors to tell you that you need to put air in the tyres. I like to manually check this sort of thing.

... and a handbrake lever which sticks out of the floor. And has a proper (Bowden type) cable from said lever to the park brakes, not electric solenoids... Not a real car otherwise
