An interesting and unusual offering....
1959-facel-vega-excellence
I have never heard of the car but it has an interesting history as per this inclusion in the auction commentary.
I knew Camus was killed in a car accident but not the details
"Facel Vega is the symbol of the French sporty and luxurious automobile. But it is also the car in which the writer Albert Camus and his publisher Michel Gallimard lost their lives. January 4, 1960, national road 5 between Sens and Fontainebleau, the powerful Facel Vega FV3B of 355 horsepower that drives at high speed, hits a tree on the side of the road and then bounces on a second plane tree. Under the violence of the shock, the car literally dislocated and the chassis twisted against the tree. A flat tire is then implicated"

I think Douglas Halliwell owner of an SS Morgan (?) and former of eMog was rather interested in Facel Vega..He may lurk on TM..?
I think Brian Rix may have owned a F.V. at one time..?

Nice Roadster. They don't seem to come up that often in the US. I'd like to add one to my garage someday.

Currently bid US$ 37,250.00. I expect a late rush on this one.....

Craig - Denis Glavis imported some of the later model Roadsters the 3.7Ltr under the Trumpian special exemption..

You don't get the hideous telescopic bumper arrangement ( as fitted to the black one) either with the later imported one's.

Richard, thank you. I once asked Dennis about the prices on his Roadsters. Unfortunately that may not be a viable cost option for me. Used Roadsters in the US come up at a more reasonable cost. These are all toys, but the cost of my toys can't be that high.
