Talk Morgan Forums Community Vehicle Talk (non-Morgan) should I buy another bike?

I can only add that as probably of similar advancing years I have recently bought and sold to leave me with a smaller capacity but older still classic bike, kinder on my right foot. My biking enjoyment is gained not from being another form of transport but pride of ownership and the privilege and challenge of riding around on something so old but still running. The ensuing compliments and interest shown is icing on the cake.

For me now as well as being ridiculously fast and easy to ride, any modern big bike would present little challenge and for that reason I guess would quicky tire of using it.

On the other hand this would be tempting though

Yes it ticks a lot of boxes for me and "superleggera". Back in the day my business partner brought one over from Italy but it was already promised to a friend otherwise I would have had first nabs

Yes, it‘s difficult.

If you got the money and the space in the garage it‘s the first step. But than the more tragic: as a bought a third bicycle in my youth my grandma told me: you‘ve got only one a… (to sit on).

And that‘s another point. You can always play with only one toy. A very massive problem. Another point for me: if you service your toys as a DIY: to much dogs are the rabbits dead.

In the real world: I‘ve got the MOG (needs a wash and some more miles out), I‘ve got a Harley (just fixed, needs some more miles out),
I‘ve got a very old VESPA (engine is full dismantled and need „only“ a screw together), I‘ve got about 14 very nice old steelbicycles (4 of them needs a service and/or a wash).

So in summery the problem of all such questions: will your time grow up with the number of your toys? So sometimes it‘s better to reduce for more fun and time to play.

Also with the same problem: a friend asks me if I want his APRILLIA Moto 6.5. One of my dreambikes… for a bargain.

Yeah! What a trip.That’s a real adventure on a bike and a superb bonding exercise between father and son.
Only thing is…with a 16 year old son, I tend to think you are a tad younger than the originator of this

I always regret selling a gorgeous Ducati 999s.
I would be tempted to find another one, but common sense prevails,
I just don’t have the reaction times, anymore, to enjoy a bike like that.
Fantastic memories though.

My oldest son is 35. His first road trip was to Sweden to a big bike event., my next is 24. His first little trip was a taster was around Arizona when he was 8 but his big trip was riding around Hokkaido when he was 15. My 21 year old got his first road trip in Arizona and Nevada too age 11 (and we got to go out to dinner with Elton John's crew in Vegas too.
Not sure the age of original poster but I'm 60 :-)

Sadly most posters are a tad younger than me !

Anyway, I did the deed and the bike is now in the garage waiting for a sensible temperature for the first ride. Never felt comfortable about the approach to protection that riders in hot countries take so its full sweaty PPE for me.

Congratulations, enjoy the bike. PPE has come on a lot since we first started riding many with removeable inner linings, light weight kevlar and armour etc with vents for summer riding.
