Interested that your rears don’t rub on the inside of the arches. But I guess you are on wires whereas I’m on in steel wheels so the offset could be different

As for 195/65 tyres once I get mine changed I will have 4 for sale with less than 1000 miles covered 👍

Ok - I can see you’ve got steels as well! And yes, I do like the look of the wider tyres but no good if on mine they are rubbing ☹️

I'm on new rear springs so there is plenty of space at the back - as you say, probably a difference in offset on the wheels themselves (they are old VW wheels). The 205 tread does poke outside the arches a smidge (technically an MOT fail) but I don't have to MOT so not an issue.

I`ve had 165/80 on mine - had some from Blockley tyres at about £100 a corner but recently had to get new ones in a hurry and ended up with the factory-fitted Contis from F1 autocentres - Fitted, balanced etc for about £360 for the four- bargain.

165 Vredestein Classic a perfect for a classic look. And very good on the road...

175/70/15 on 4/4

IcePack, could you please send a pic where we can see the whole car from a side or front to side angle, I would like to see how ok the wheel arches are filled optically in relation to the car from a more far distance. And one could (very slightly) change the in my view much too long ratio of the final drive. BTW do you have the comparison with perhaps before driven 165/80/15 tyres regarding the „feel“, if there is any, of a slightly shorter ratiio? Thanks. Because sometimes it needs only a bit of chance to be more happy with the drive ratios. The tyre calculator shows a 3% shorter final drive. To change a final ratio of 3,7 to 3,9 is also not much more than 5% but it is noticeable.

Best I can do at the moment. The pic is with CR6ZZ Avons 175/70/15 which were fantastic in the dry, but were horrible in any standing water. (very "snaky") hence the change to the Sprint Classics. Note both tyres are the same size but the Avons are slightly larger.(Why?)
Difficult for me to comment on ratios, as my 4/4 has the modified Diff. However when she was factory new she was shod with Contis 165/80/15s. Aaaaaagh hopeless tyres (note 11 years ago-New ones may be different) I spun the car at 25mph causing 10500 quid damage. Really upsetting.
If you are worried about the speedo reading that can be altered. Their is a thread on here on how to do it. Mine with the different tyres & diff is accurate to 1 mph at 30 & 4mph at 70.
With the Sprint classics fitted a track day was great fun. Could get the car to 4 wheel drift by feathering the throttle but never got the back to hang out. My ability I suspect, & did not notice any significant under steer. What I did note was 2nd-3rd did not really suit Snetterton, as coming out of some corners 2nd was too short & 3rd too long to keep in the power band above 4000rpm (Variable Cam change point) She does accelerate very quickly in 1st from a standing start, must check the top speed in 1st,&2nd.
Using 22psi front & 24psi rear the ride is good with the new springs & Dampers (another thread). Can't say I noticed much difference with the other tyres as the ride was awful anyway, due the problems with the springs, frame & dampers.
By the way I know someone who has different tyres front & rear. Each to his own, but I think the 175s look just right on a 4/4. Not to thin nor to thick.
