Still off-line.
I have run into a small problem with the update but I believe that I now have the fix.
The site will remain off-line for about another hour. In other words until about midday London time (daylight saving time). If not successful with the update I will revert to the previous version until a fix is available.

OK. the site should be back on-line.
Unfortunately whilst the script update was easilly performed I ran into a problem with the database update which has yet to be resolved so I had to revert back to the previous version while I search for a solution with the developer.
I will scedule a new time for the update when I have the solution.

It turns out to be a bit like a major model update on a car. They can do all the testing in the world but when it gets out in the real world you always find things that don't quite work in a different environment.
After discussions with the developer it has been decided to wait for a revised version which should come out at the end of the week. There are a number of hot fixes that need to be done for this version and it is better to get them done in an official release rather than fiddling under the bonnet.
I will probably wait until mid next week to see what other admins report.

Here we go again!
The new version of Chevereto, the script we use for the Image Library, has been updated to v. 4.0.1
Hopefully all of the little problems that surfaced on the production release of v. 4.0, after a long series of beta testing, have been resolved.
So I will have another attempt, hopefully successful, to upgrade the version.
The time I have scheduled for the update is 8:00 AM GMT (London time) Wednesday 12 October.
I will take the site off-line during the upgrade. It would be helpful, but not essential, if no new photos are uploaded from midnight (London time) until we are back on-line Wednesday morning.

It's always good to see a X.Y.1 on the end, first bugs squished.......I am never inclined to install a X.0 version it feels like it just escaped into the wild and still has scruffy bits as they rushed!

Maybe I am just too cynical.

Still can't get the database update to work.
I have once again reverted to the previous version and put the site back on-line.
It is damned frustrating and I have submitted a bug report. Hopefully the thing will be fixed soon as up until now all the updates have gone reasonably smoothly. The update of the files themselves (over 32,000 of them) is pretty straight forward but the script for the database update is what is not working.
If possible I will ask for a list of the changes required for the database in order to perform the individual changes manually.
In any case the site is back on line until we get a fix.
