If you parked a £150k Aero Coupe/Supersport next to a £150k Bentley I wonder which would get more

When I come back to Shiny and find people looking at it I always get asked how much it's worth. I turn it back on them and ask them what they think. Before they answer I tell them it is hand made and there are only ~30-40 on the planet. None of them guess lower than £150-180k so it is quite telling.

I wonder how much Morgan would charge to make a car with no major faults or design issues?

I always saw the Aero Coupe as something very special. A really great design line. Well, it was a closed car with a fixed roof which would be no issue for me, if I had the money just for such a a toy car. But I heard many stories about the Targa version, which did not always speak for the water tightness and a rattle free body. For me, I always like the Aero Coupe. If I remember correctly it was a bit cheaper in its time of release and not many people wanted one?

Well if Heinz feels that way then the price just went up to £165k

It's funny, when we were looking the Aeromax was out of my stretch-and-then-some range of pricing but the 2013 Geneva car came up for sale ex-demo from the factory. For me the AeroMax is actually a bit prettier and more resolved at the rear end with it's pure deco look. I still love the shape of the Coupe.

Having been to Beaulieu Supercar Weekend with the Aero Coupe then I can tell you, the Aero!

It was cheaper and I can imagine most Morgan buyers (of a new Morgan) would be looking for some kind of wind in the hair/cap/beard experience and would have opted for that choice given one. Production was not limited and so the numbers speak for themselves. Roll forward a few years and as is often the case, the less desired then becomes desirable now and the supply is limited. I would think Coupe will, in time, regularly surpass Supersport values based on the AeroMax halo effect and supply and demand. That said, the near identical appearance of Supersport and Coupe mean a prospective buyer would never feel they made the wrong decision buying either (though some may be clear they want the top to come off, others may be they don't want the hassle of a creaky leaky roof) and thus values of both my track evenly. There was a time AeroMax values were not that much more than the Coupe or Supersport whereas now asking price is much higher. I actually prefer the rear end of the Coupe and made my choice (and it had to be the Coupe). Bottom line it will always be supply and demand led but the pool of available cars at any one time is very shallow.

When did you get your screen out of curiosity?

I had one last year from Morgan, they just got a batch in and had about 20. I imagine they stockpile a few orders and order a batch at a time.

I know this car, well as in I almost bought it when I bought my Series 1! It was priced at 10k above mine at the time - funnily enough the dealer advised that mine would be more desirable and worth more one day, so does that mean mines worth 134k now?

I regularly hear that the S1 is “the one to have” but that doesn’t seem to be reflected in rising prices with the only ones I see going up being S5’s. As these cars very seldom come up for sale outwith the dealer network is it the dealers who love them so much holding back S1 prices or are they just being realistic?

I think from a business perspective invest will be interested in the latest models, and have more control over the prices of those - hence why all S5's have been pushed very high price wise (esp all ltd editions).

S1's and to an lesser extent S2-S4's are not on their radar and for some reason the dealers seem slow and reluctant to market them as per the market conditions (i.e. auction prices).

I would imagine this is because the majority of cars are SOR, and this is usually a set fee - so there is no real incentive to ensure the prices are completely upto date, as well as being a harder sell to those used to the prices being at a set level. This does seem at odds to all other manufacturer's, but I guess Morgan is a specialist world!

In the future I think things will change slightly, similar to S1 E-Type's - the original and purest design being the more sought after (I would caveat the Ltd editions and S5's though as they are quite different).
