Yep, it’s definitely clever marketing. But then we live in a world where people are happy to pay over the odds for things which have only an intangible set of benefits compared to the cheaper version.
If the amateur product is easier to handle for the novice and smells nicer, and the buyer is happy to pay the premium, then everybody’s happy - especially Meguiars, who make much higher margins. I think one additional factor is ease of access, you can buy stuff like Meguiars or Autoglym in any high street.

Morning All!
Thank you to everybody who took the time to respond to my post. I now have a wealth of useful information on which to build knowledge of the best practices / processes and finishes.
TBH, a lifetime of owning cars, most of which had lacquered surfaces, I rarely ever bothered polishing and only ever waxed one car (SAAB 9-5 estate in black).
The Morgan is different though. I want to achieve that glorious mirror finish I have seen on other Morgans.
