Putting aside how I feel about royalty and the privilege it brings, I don’t like to see biased press gleefully destroying people. If you want them to shut up, you’ll have to convince everyone to stop buying the papers and gossip magazines, then they won’t need to constantly defend themselves with dreary docusoaps. I don’t blame them for doing it, if Netflix was daft enough to pay millions for their side of the story then good for them.

People aren't perfect for sure. I recently found out the Schroedinger (he of the cat ) was a paedophile. Who can't claim to be without sin? But if you then lecture us & expect money & respect because of your lineage that doesn't work for me. If walks like one & quacks it is a duck no matter how high born.
Andrew & Harry's service is respected by me but I'm sorry they leach of us & I agree about being litterally in league with the press in symbiotic relationship.

It's all very complex. They live in a bubble of privilege. They go to public schools, which as the offspring of normal people they would never get in. Few seem to have much intellect. The forces are a logical place to send royals, but I just don't see how they can be treated fairly. The unconscious bias, which Harry discovered this week, will either judge them harshly or leniently. They seem to rise through the ranks effortlessly, and all have a huge raft of medals. The whole thing is basically an outmoded pantomime.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not anti royal, but they seem to achieve so little with so much wealth. Things like the DOE award scheme is a great thing, as is The Invictus Games. But does the Duchy of Cornwall do enough for the people of Cornwall? See how they discard loyal courtiers after years of service. See the arrogance of people like Andrew, and now Harry. The set up is archaic. They should be self funding. They don't need so many castles, and stately piles. It's abhorrent. Yet their hands are still out for taxpayers money.

Agree Dave they have stolen our land for over 900 years they can afford ot self fund & selll off stuff they stole from us.

No royal has stolen anything from me and I doubt I’d be any better off if all their wealth were to be seized and redistributed, it would likely be wasted by all the other people who live off my tax contributions.

I'm being woke. But you still pay taxes for this lot whether you want to or not. If they were self funding I'd be happy. The Dutch Royals are a far better example.

Could be wrong on this, but seem to think when Harry was in the army, they weren’t able to deploy him in a significant combat role in Afghanistan with risk of injury or death because of the massive damage to moral etc and obvious gain this would give the enemy - imagine if he has been captured by the Taliban for instance.
