Reform is needed and a definite slimming down is in order, there also needs to be control over the stuffing of the Lords with political appointees ... but part of me won't welcome an elected Upper House that will inevitably be stuffed with the same party political arseholes as the Lower one.

I’d rather stick cocktail sticks in my eyes than watch that drivel,

Apart from general elections, where it might get just above 50 or 60% the great British unwashed can’t be arsed to go out on a wet Wednesday to vote - what % would have a clue or motivation to vote for Lord replacements - not many.

% voting United Kingdom local elections 30%

That is unfortunatly true therefore you get the goverment you deserve. Could the solution be to first, make it compulsory to vote ( even if you choose to spoil your paper ) then, and this is the difficult part, get some honest, trustworthy ladies and gents to be our MP's and then get them to work hard to serve the people of this great country rather than themselves or follow outdated political dogma.

I do feel that MPs, along with a few other groups, suffer from a media distorted '20 Minutes Hate' ...... out of the 650 of them the majority get on with the job of representing their constituencies and running the country with diligence and honesty .... the few that don't get acres of sensational press (no random group of 650 people will be without its 'wrong-uns') .... mostly in outlets that are openly partisan and want to maximise the damage to the sitting party in order to replace it with their prefered one. It adds up to a somewhat distorted view.

Just to put this into context, the official BARB UK viewing figures for episode 1 of this programme was 2.4 million viewers. That doesn't put it in the Top 50. Netflix's only top 50 show last week was a comedy called Wednesday, whose audience of 2.7 million placed it at number 48, just behind the BBC's repeats of the daytime quiz Pointless . The UK audience for episodes 2 and 3 of the Harry & Meghan Show were 1.1 million and 800,000 respectively. The programme managed less than 1 million viewers in the US.

This show and its associated hype were as much about Netflix attempting to revive its dwindling subscriber numbers as the show's content. It would appear to have been a flop on both counts.

Mrs watched that - again so did I by default. Quite enjoyed it - bit two dimensional but fairly light and amusing none the less.

Thanks Ian, that really does put it in context and I find it reassuring that not many other people want to watch this drivel.

Netflix is definitely slipping in quality. Best things I have watched recently were the latest Cormoran Strike series on BBC and The Peripheral on Amazon Prime.

I have no interest in watching the Harry and Megan stuff, but was amused to see it described as 'Downton Abbey meets the Kardashians'.
