Working on my winter project list and wondering what the original factory interior trim materials would have been for our '64 4/4. We currently have a mix of fuzzy, felt like carpeting on the floorboards, over the driveshaft tunnel, and on the floor of the boot; ribbed rubber on the sides and bulkhead in the footwells; "pleather" on the boot sides and rear panel. The transmission cover, door cards and door top cushions are leather. Obviously not original, but I suspect that the originals of these were also leather. I think that the original driveshaft tunnel would have been leather and the boot lined with the ribbed rubber material, but I would like to get this confirmed, so I can get my stuff on order. Thanks in advance for any help.

Mines about 8 years younger but it has ribbed rubber matting on the underseat floors , footwells and footwell sides. Gearbox tunnel cover is a horsehair/matting material covered in vinyl. Propshaft tunnel is vinyl, as are door cards, quarter panels and rear wheel arch covers. Door sill covers are also vinyl.

Mines a 4 seat, but rear footwells were also in ribbed rubber matting.

Thanks, TBM, others have confirmed the ribbed rubber matting and, luckily, it's still readily available from Morgan Spares here in the US. The original factory chassis record states that the car was supplied with "Black leather upholstery" but, given the unknown history of past restoration(s), I'm not sure if any of the original materials remain in the car.

My seats were originally leather (now retrimmed in vinyl) so it may be a bit 'half and half.

Does anyone know how the ribbed rubber on the sides, footwells, firewall, should be attached to the metal? Mine is falling off all over the place, and I think is time to re-fashion it.

I've had a few days poking around in the car getting ready to put it into storage and found that any reupholstering that has been done in the past is vinyl, not leather as I had previously thought. Our new seats arrived this morning, so I'll be ordering a hide to match the leather on them...

Any neoprene based adhesive such as Evostick works, on my MG Midget I bought a can of aerosol spray adhesive which works well on larger areas.
