Me too - if I get a lottery win, the very first thing I would be doing is ordering a Plus Six.

Odds are a little against me, but a boy can dream.

I had the Plus Six engine in a BMW M140. It has, in that fitting, two separate cooling systems, including 2 header tanks. One is for the intercooler and one for the engine. Does the Plus Six have that...?

Yes , three radiators in one big radiator. I think one for the engine ,one for the turbo, one for the box, and only for the plus six one for the airco.

I refer to my earlier post of the 23rd January.

I have made inquiries and looked under the bonnet. Plus Four CXs without AC have one water radiator and this was attached to the swirl pot when the latter was fitted. I am told that this original radiator was a 2 core radiator and the new one now fitted is a 3 core radiator (presumably better able to cater for any residual thermal or other shock).

I suggest that all who have had a swirl pot fitted check for water leaks regularly and also check that any new radiator is a 3 core radiator or at least and improvement on the one fitted when the car left the factory.

I recognise that an experienced motor engineer/mechanic may wish to comment on the above. In any event it seems unlikely MMC will ever explain in clear terms why an improved radiator was not fitted when the swirl pot was fitted given the apparent cumulative effect of thermal or other "shock" over the period of use of the vehicle.

I note that owners of pre CX models have had radiators replaced but they appear to have been isolated incidents.

Checked about a trade in against another sports car.
Now, I have to say I didn’t expect much and my enquiry was exploratory. Not many dealers will want a Morgan, not because they aren’t great cars, but because they may be seen as limited appeal and not commonly used as daily drivers. So we have to accept they are a not massively appealing as a p/x.
Nevertheless for a car which cost £76k in July 2020 with 3.5k on the clock, I was offered…… £52k.
And one of the main reasons I went for a Morgan was because they held their price so well 🤔.
I guess it stacks up because there are some advertised in high 50’s / £60k and dealers have to make a profit, but I can’t help thinking the recall may have affected re-sale prices.
So, it looks like I will be Morganeering for quite some time, which let’s be honest isn’t really a bad thing, is it?

That's about 30% depreciation over 30mths. A report for news.motors.co.uk reckons "in the first year, a new car will typically depreciate 10-40%, losing value the very moment it’s driven off the dealer’s forecourt. By three years, that same new car, driving an average of 10,000 miles per year, could have lost as much as 60% of its value."

The old 'years long' waiting list has now gone, and coupled with the fact that their are so many options available it would be tricky to find someone who matches your ideas of colour and spec - this means they sit around on the sales forecourt for rather a long time.

Still, as you say, keeping your Mog can only be a good thing

Holding value is just about supply and demand isn't it?
Over the last ten years Morgan have reversed the old waiting list situation. It's quite easy to get delivery of a new bespoke Morgan more quickly than a Mercedes or BMW.
Just look at how many are available for sale.
Can only lead to ordinary car devaluation levels.

Not a particularly bad thing; it means enthusiasts will buy the cars rather than investors.

and that 52k is an allowance against buying another car…often more generous than a cash sale offer! Commiserations to all who bit the CX bullet, as there’s no getting away from what you can easily see on many dealer forecourts.
It also looks like model improvements are now on an annual basis, making each revision more desirable than the previous. Owning a Morgan ain’t what it was, financially.
