Damage to the environment is proportional to weight.
It would seem more equitable to apply VED in weight bands. Can't see that happening any time soon.

Interesting, despite living in a large house the two of us used 23kwh/day of electricity based on the January Octopus bill.

We're in a small 3 bed semi - last month around 6kwh per day Mon to Fri, with about 10kwh per day at weekends.

Living in Arizona and having solar has made running an electric car work well for me. I have been involved in the EV industry ever since I moved to the US in 2011, currently working with the electric motorcycle spinoff from Harley-Davidson - Livewire.

An interesting twist regarding electric cars, is currently being reported here in the South West. Apparently very few camping sites in Devon, Cornwall and West Somerset are able to offer recharging points. The problem being reported stems from the lack of electric capacity available to these sites; many of which are in remote locations. Bud 4/4 - Stanley Simon it would appear that very few Plug in vehicles can tow anyway as it drains the batteries very quickly. I appreciate that, but apparently there are an increasing number of ‘trendy green tent campers’ keen to experience the more remote sites, down here. So they’ll have to drive down in their Range Rovers instead. Bud 4/4 - Stanley

I like the Livewire, but again completely impractical for the average biker who'll spend weekends fully loaded with camping gear, riding to a remote field with only a couple of portaloos and a beertent for comfort........

A Tesla 3 weighs less than a BMW 3 Series - and the tyres on mine have easily outlasted the tyres on my ICE cars. Yes, I've just changed the tyres on my Model 3 at over 28k miles and they still weren't at the legal limit. Maybe I'm not driving it right?

I have just had to replace the passenger front Avon ZV7 on my lightweight Corsa after 16,000 miles. Apparently 'driving at the limit' all the time, coupled with all the MK roundabouts is not conducive to tyre longeivity.......

Just replaced the rears on my Model Y at 34k, fronts still OK went for cheap replacements at £105 each, see how long these ones last...The Model 3 at work got 42k out of all four tyres. Really can't complain about the running costs of theses cars, moan about everything else about it though 😀

I love those roundabouts.
