Thanks Kevin and Roger - another improvement to save up for!

From what’s remember tried Garage 56 a few years ago also to develop a quiet BB but they didn’t succeed.
Does Billy Bellinger has more technical know-how as Garage 56 ?

He is a specialist in rebuilding gearboxes and rear axles.

The bevel boxes are like Russian roulette, the good ones and the bad ones.

I think that if the price is close to a new bevelbox it is because he puts new gears inside.

I am totally new - This is actually my first contribution for my colleagues on TM - so when I misuse the forum please tell me.

Following my "want to buy" and "bought a bevelbox" thread I will write about it

Analysing the Bevel Box.

The plan is to get a thoroughly understanding of the noisy Bevel-box.
Many other owners have given me already a lot of very useful information.
The goal is to find ‘another (?)’ solution to get the Bevel-box better maintained and most of all more silent and maybe give that service to other owners in case they like it.
I do this together with my neighbour who is Landrover technician.
I am for sure not the first one who starts such a project, but upon till now I have not find real answers.
It will also take a long time before I have come to a real plan of approach.
In the mean time I will keep you informed through this thread.

I am besides a sailor by profession also and analyst and like to do research, especially when it concerns maths, physics, mechanics and electricity and electronica ( Ham operator ).
In fact when I could buy this beauty from Steve, my main reason to buy a M3W was that I bought something on which I could – have to - work and try to improve.

Because the first thing I want to know about the Bevel-Box is temperature, I decided to create an extra Dashboard, where I could control the Bevel-box temperature.
And because I have a lot of other possibilities with these fantastic and flexible Auber-instruments I used it also for Engine-oil pressure and other – for me - important things to know.

Chapter
Bevel-Box sensor

Because the whole project started with an analysing project of the M3W Bevel-box, the first sensor I bought from Auber was the same temperature sensor which I used for the engine.
I have installed this one instead of the drain plug of the Bevel box.
On Amazon.fr I could buy a M16 to 1/8NPT bold which I used.
The inside diameter was just a little bit wider than the sensor.
To get more fluid flow I drilled the hole to 12 mm.

I made a relay behind the new Dash, so I can switch between the Engine temp and the Bevel-box temp.

The dashboard
Following you will find some documents which hopefully explain the other functions of the dashboard and how I made it this winter.
Because I could not download a MS Word file, I made from a pdf file four separate pdf pages which I converted to jpg files so I could give you – via TM-Images - a document to read.

Some extra’s

The dashboard has also a fitting for a “Tire Pressure System” and two switches/regulators for my motorbike heating vests and a USB outlet for the Programmable ECU which I bought from Bunny.

I hope you enjoy reading it.

and I even could get pictures in the post laugh
