I always rather liked the original, quirky style & it looks like they may be back, with deposits sold out for the first batch

That's good news. The more specialist cars to counteract the attack of the electric washing machines the better.

Wiesmann rightly went bankrupt because they became too proud. The inline six was discontinued and only V8s were available. The air became too thin, there were hardly enough customers for a minimum 140000€ car. The six was at about 70 to 80000€. Many more people could afford that. This new Thunderball should cost at least 300000€ in 2 years, so they say today. Let's see what it will really cost in two years. To be honest, it is such a dreamer project that I do not see yet arrived in the real world. It's similar to TVR. Most of the time the initiators run out of money before such a project is finalized. Only when I see such a Thundeball on the street I believe that it has become reality. Apropos, regarding the ignorance towards fans who might want to pay 50000€, e.g. for a 4/4, I see parallels to a small company in Malvern.

When I saw it weighed about the same as two Morgans it looked less like a sports car in my book .... power to weight ratio looks good on paper but it's acheived by crushing amounts of power overwhelming the portly 1.7 tonnes the thing weighs....not for me (even if I had the cash!🙂)

Well, for my sins I bought a GT5 last December which has the BMW V10 in it. It is pretty rare as its RHD - it was due to go to Hong Kong as a demonstrator around 2010 but the factory went bust and was stuck in litigation until 2015 when it was sold to the previous owner who put around 9k miles on it. The quality of build is very impressive but I am holding off until we get decent weather to have a proper drive in it !

Am impressive car collection there Taffy, although I can't understand why you would need 4 Tonka Toys?

That reminds me - what happened to the ‘new’ TVR?

This update is from last summer

As sad as it is to say I think Heinz comments apply even more so to the long running TVR funding fest. Good intentions I am certain but possibly more of a script to put to a musical to than a car company at this point.

It makes the work of Aerial and other UK specialists all the more remarkable.

I must say that I really liked the original car but this "NEW" one looks as though they couldn't stop styling it. To many vents and lumps and bumps and electic, I think not.
