Tesla has reduced prices, again.
I had little confidence in Tesla's corporate ethics, now I have none. I'll never buy a car from that company again and I'm pleased I got out of Tesla ownership when I did.

The EV market is slowing, for all the reasons we have debated here.

I've been looking at air source heat pumps and after talking to a number of installers I've concluded that the systems on offer are not fit for purpose in any home built before 2015: one installer has told me he has removed more systems or put in parallel gas boilers over the last 6 months than he has installed. We thought about a hybrid system so the heat pump heats water to 55C and then gas takes it up to 70, the temperature the house heating was designed to run at, but it makes no economic sense. So we have given up on heat pumps of any type, instead we will increase our battery storage and fit additional PV panels to take us largely off grid in the summer.

I have a small PV system. 8 panels. At present I get a FIT ( feed in Tariff) at around 18p per KWh. That is on 50% of what gets generated.
Every time a reading is supplied I have to tick. “no changes to system”.
Does anyone know what happens to our FIT if I get a battery installed?
Thanks.

Depends on where in the system you get it installed. It can be done without affecting your FiT, My battery installation was done a couple of years after the panels and it doesn't affect the FiT..

What did you go for Clemens, we are all interested in the running and "ranges" of these cars even if we do not wish to be an early adopter so do let us all know how it works out for you.
We live way out in the sticks and these EV are a no go area unless you have TESLA as the others have next to no network to plug into and the ranges are abysmal tbh at the moment, so hydrogen will be the only thing that makes sense down here one day or synthetic fuel for the ICE.

Bought a Mercedes EQS 580. The range is given with over 700 km. When I have more experience with it I can gladly report on it if it is of interest.
For me, the infrastructure is no problem in terms of daily driving. I have a wallbox in my private garage and a charging possibility in my company.

I assume you will need to get a separate inverter for the batteries as I did. In that case nothing changes for the fit, effectively it is like any other piece of electrical kit you use. This was confirmed by the supplier.

If you were clever and had an inverter installed that can PV solar & batteries then I'm not sure , but I can't see the difference.

Thanks Clemens, that is a rather special EV indeed and I expect it will wipe the floor with Musk's offerings in terms of finish, engineering and pure style - enjoy your kilometres and with that range many of them thumbs

The people from Stuttgart definitely know what a gap dimension is compared to Elon Musk 🤗

Would make Tesla owners a bit careful about going dogging with someone else's wife, wouldn't it - particularly if the said someone else works for Tesla scared

It might be a deliberate move by Muck now that he owns Twitter. He needs to raise those share prices so he can make his next vanity purchase after he shoots his mouth off.

He is going to cross Twitter and Tesla to form a new In-Car-Movie division called OnlyTeslaFans.com

(For those not into the Interweb choose a safe moment to visit onlyfans.com using your private browser option and not at work!)
